Description

2002 Mercedes Benz S55 AMG
This is a superb car for the winter! It handles itself in a very safe and composed manner--more surefooted that your average sedan. It has traction control, nd winter mode (modifies how the transmission performs to make the car even safer for driving in inclement weather). Plus, nce you try out heated seats, ou'll never want to go back to a car that doesn't have them. There's nothing like heated seats on a cold winter day.
Not your ordinary Mercedes Benz! (As if a Benz is ordinary to begin with...) This is an "S" class, o it has a ton of luxury amenities that the lower classes lack. And this is an AMG, o it far exceeds the other trims in the "S" class in terms of performance.
More luxury, ore performance.
This car originally retailed for $99,500! There's no way that $6995 should be able to buy you this much car!
The S55 AMG is a full-size luxury sports sedan that has been performance tuned.
There's nothing like the S55 in the BMW or Audi lineup. (ie, MW offers the "M" trim in their 3-series and 5-series, ut not in their 7-series...think of this as the competitor to a BMW M7, lthough no such car exists...)
So, t feels like a Benz. Like a luxury cruiser. Like your grand-daddy's caddy. You just cruise through the neighborhood and it oozes posh luxury and comfort. The interior is beautiful. Not just leather, ut nappa leather (amazingly high-quality leather). Sunroof, ose sound, eated seats, utomatic windows and 16-way automatic seats, ear sunshade, ruise, ilt, nd even massaging seats. There is so much room in the rear. This car is intended to be very, ery comfortable for all passengers. Beautifully trimmed on the inside. All the motors for the seats and windows and mirrors and sunroof work, s do the heated seats and cruise. No tears in the leather. All doors and windows work. Very beautiful car to drive. And very cushy, ot only in its upholstery, ut in its suspension. You'll mostly ride around in this car like any other luxury sedan. It feels amazing to drive in. Every time you sit in it, ou know you're in something special. Listening to classical music is the right thing to do in this car.
But this car is more than just luxury. This AMG-tuned S-class cranks out 355 horsepower, nd thrusts a whopping 391 ft-lbs of torque. That translates to a 0-60 in 5.7 seconds, ithout any hit of slowing its acceleration at that point--a little rice-burner that might be able to hang with the S55 in the first few seconds will soon see tail lights pulling farther and father away (it's got a great top end). It's not the kind of car that you go around racing, ut when you're on the freeway and you want to pass somebody, ou pass them. Then end.
The car is an absolute treat to drive. Amazing, nparalleled blend of luxury and power. You just cruise. You turn heads. And when you want to accelerate, ou'll experience a blend of raw power and smoothness that is like a cross between American muscle and European luxury.
And that's just in-line speed. The handling department is something super special in this S-Class. Mercedes doesn't like to sacrifice cush and comfort for performance--but how do you get a car that corners like an AMG when it sports such cushy suspension? Enter Active Body Control suspension. This is a system that electronically mitigates body-roll on corners. So, f you take a corner faster that you should, nstead of the whole car leaning outwardly w/ the g-force, he system stiffens up the outside shocks to keep the car level even in hard cornering. In a word, t is awesome! Have your luxury and your performance in one!
This car has been well maintained. July 2015, had the Active Body Control pump/steering pump unit and hoses replaced by a professional Mercedes Mechanic. I also had the mechanic replace the throttle control module and the brake lining. It's oil was changed about 400 miles ago. Its filter is new as of 12/12/15. I also had the the high-pressure lines replaced for the ABC system. November 2015 I had the motor mounts replaced, s well as the reservoir to the coolant system.New battery in 6/15. Oil gasket replaced 12/12/15.
I also dropped a pretty penny on those sweet 19" Mercedes-Benz black rims...
The bad: there is some paint bubbling on the bottom of the driver and front passenger side doors. It's not noticeable unless you're looking for it. Auto door locks don't work. The car has a small oil leak. Sometimes when you're driving, he car will give you a chime and a message that the ABC suspension needs serviced; my mechanic said that this could be an over-sensitive sensor--the ABC system works great, nd does not need servicing; you just get that chime occasionally. Rear head rests are stuck in the "up" position. If it sits for a few days without being driven the battery dies (there's a draw on the battery somewhere--maybe the power seats?), ut it works great as a daily driver. Other than that, t drives great. The motor is powerful and smooth, he brakes are the best I've ever felt in any car, he handling is much, uch better than you would expect from a full luxury sedan--it's awesome! The ideal buyer for this car would be someone who wants to know what it feels like to drive around in a truly amazing vehicle, hat is able to look past these small issues.
I've priced it several thousand below NADA retail value. If you can be okay w/ the minor imperfections this is your chance to know what it feels like to drive a $99,500 car every day, nd your chance to buy a Mercedes Benz S55 AMG for thousands less than book value. This is the best-priced AMG on ebay. Miles are low for the year. The motor is very strong and in very good condition--ready to go another 100,000 miles easily. This can be your daily driver for years to come.
Nada values this at $12,175. I am only asking $7995.
I have described the car accurately, ncluding its small imperfections. There are no express or implied warranties on this vehicle. Shipping is your responsibility. Non-refundable $500 deposit required within 24 hours of auction end through paypal. The rest of the payment is required within 7 days after auction end.
