1981 280E Euro Version Low Miles Third Owner Very Clean Always Garaged Cared For

For sale is my carefully maintained and rare 1981 280E Mercedes Euro version. My dad was the second owner of this car for 28 years so I know this car very well. The car is as clean as it gets with all original Mercedes parts. This car is very complete with working Becker stereo, riginal tool set, irst aid kit, tc. This is the very coveted Euro version with all of its rare to find features: square headlights, hort bumpers, eadrests in the back seat, azard reflector, tc. The 280E is a very powerful gas engine model which, nlike the diesel version, ccelerates and runs very fast. There is a European VIN number on this car which is WDB12303312095199.
Here is a detailed description of this car. I will try to be thorough on my descriptions at the risk of making any issues sound worst than they are. You are welcome to verify all of this info. Many more pictures are available on request.
Exterior: To my knowledge, nd I believe I know this car very well, his car has never been in an accident. The car was painted to match its original white about 15 years ago and the paint is still in very good condition with only a few small chips that are consistent with the age of this car. This car has been garaged most of its life and shows no major rust issues underneath or elsewhere with only 2 tiny rusts spots by the rear window which is a very common problem in the W123. All the chrome in this car is shiny and in fantastic condition. The headlights, ail lights and turn signals are in great condition with no cracks. The undercarriage always gets me compliments when I take it to the oil change because its so clean. All the lights work as intended and the car just passed its Texas state safety inspection. The bike rack on the pictures is not included with the car but is also available for sale at a small price.
Interior: As you can see in the pictures, his car is as clean as it gets. The original interior was cloth which I replaced with original Palomino color MB Tex in very clean condition. The spring boxes on the front and rear seats are in perfect condition so they do not sag as in so many of these cars today. There is a burn mark on the passenger front seat about 4 inches in diameter but no real damage except for the mark. The headliner, un visors and other interior panels are very clean. The carpet is really clean as you can see in the pictures. The central dash is very complete with all knobs and trim in place. The dash has cracks as expected in these W123 models. I am showing the picture of the cracks for you to get a good idea of what I'm describing. The electric sunroof works as intended and shuts tight.
Mechanics: PROS:Two years ago I took this car for a 300 miles ride and it was a fantastic trip with no issues at all. The car starts up like new without cranking. Needless to say, he registration and safety inspection are current. All the electrical on this car seem to be working fine. I change the oil every 6 months regardless of mileage. Transmission shifts very smoothly and the car drives very well. This car has had a ton of maintenance and or recent upgrades with Mercedes specialists. Valves adjusted in 2013. This is a list of all new parts just to name a few:

• New fuel pump andaccumulator
• New fuel filter
• New fuel tank hose and tank filter
• New Bosch Battery (June 2015)
• New fuel pump relay
• New safety neutral switch
• New spark plugs

CONS: The engine compression is according to original MB standards however the car is emitting little smoke and would need engine repairs to fix that. The mechanic has done a diagnosis and believes one cylinder wall is damaged being the reason for the little smoke. Service records for the last 2 years are available upon request.I am happy to disclose all the information I have available so you can bid with confidence.The odometer turns but does not work properly and I estimate there are about 8,000 miles more than the odometer currently shows at 122,225. The vacuum door lock is not working but this should be a very easy repair. It just wasn't a high priority for me to get it fixed. A/C unit blows but needs a recharge.
Overall condition: Overall this car is well above average compared to the few still on the streets. Based on what I see around, believe this is one of the finest examples still driving around. This car is a dream to drive and to brag about with the only issue being the smoke problem I described above. For a few months this was my daily driver (less than 1 mile daily commute) until the smoke started to happen and I cut back to only a weekend driver. The smoke emissions are limited but I wanted to be thorough and disclose that in my listing. I would be willing to record video of the running car upon request from a serious buyer.
