Description

This is a very clean Mercedes AMG SUV; the perfect car for winter or getting away in summer. It runs very smooth and strong and everything works. Under the hood the powerful AMG 5.5L V8 engine with 342 bhp and 376 lb-ft of torque, ith a reliable automatic transmission, nd an overly competent AWD system. At 125K it has relatively few miles; many with double the miles are still on the road.

If you’re looking for an ML SUV you probably know to look for the ‘02 to ‘05 MLs and avoid the older ones. The older ones have some reliability problems, nd according to Mercedes more than 1000 parts were changed and upgraded for model year 2002. And between 2002 and 2003, he only difference is the stereo/navigation system. This car has the later model stereo retrofitted with more recent navigation maps.



In the past year I have installed 4 new tires, ew battery, ew front brakes, ew tie rods, ew transfer case motor, ew spark plugs, lushed transmission, ransfer case, diffs, rake lines, oolant, nd power steering with fresh MB fluids. I also mounted new Phillips Xenon HID bulbs and ballast. I replaced the seals that typically start to leak: steering fluid reservoir, asher bottle. The ones not yet done are the oil cooler seals, hich were planned for next oil change in fall. All other maintenance and repair items are completed. I treated the car intending to keep it for myself, nd I have fully enjoyed it, ut I have some medical bills to pay and need the money…



A quick note about those tires. The original tire size for the ML55 is no longer available; you will need a slightly different sized tire 275/55-18. Since you cannot drive this car with different tire sizes on the wheels; if just one tire is in need of replacement (like mine), ou will have to replace all 4 at a cost of about $1000. This can be a surprise expense when considering another ML55.



In 2002 this SUV cost close to $70K, nd this one came with every box checked, ven Voice Control. Automatic everything: auto-headlights, uto-wipers, uto climate control, uto-dimming rear view mirror, olding door mirrors. It has a Mercedes DVD player (VES) and even a Mercedes VHS player. The Motorola Bluetooth module pairs and synchs nicely with my iPhone and brings the phonebook onto the head unit screen. It also comes with a full set of Mercedes dry and wet mats, bug deflector, nd all the manuals.

It is not a new car, nd has some scratches and dings. Particularly the tail gate has a small dent and some surface rust. Take a look at all the pictures. Please let me know if you have any questions.


I had some questions about the underside of the car. There was some surface rust which I treated with POR-15.





NB Autocheck shows 2 accidents which were both unknown to me until I listed the vehicle for sale here. When I purchased the vehicle in April 2015 my Carfax showed no such accidents. I also don’t see evidence of any repair work in the area mentioned (right rear), nless the dent in the tailgate is a result of one of these accidents.
