Up for bid at NO RESERVE after my ridiculously low starting bid price this 1997 Mercedes C280 4dr w/ the factory Sport Package option. Highly optioned vehicle inc : very hard to find Imperial Red paint w/ Black leather interior automatic transmission power glass moonroof BOSE audio system Sport trimmed interior accents all power options and factory AMG Sport wheels.
The good : NO RESERVE. It runs (poorly) and has a very extensive and documented ownership and service history. All books and manuals are present and multiple keys too inc new replacement master key w/ keyless transmitter.
The bad : battery is always running down which means jumping it to start if it's been sitting for more than a couple days. Will need a battery too. It had a brand new $250 Mercedes battery but I put that in my Renntech.
After it starts it spits and sputters and frequently stalls and doesn't like to stay running unless you modulate the accelerator pedal until it warms up.It doesn't like to rev past 3500 rpms anymore at idle and less when engaging any drive gear. Technician who serviced it says it's time for a new catalytic convertor and O2 sensors. Previous owner had been given all sorts of bad advice about this condition and finally gave up paying big bucks for mechanics guessing at the running issues.
Various dash lights stay illuminated after starting inc but not limited to MIL and SRS. All the gauges do work. See pics
The headliner is sagging inside the car but is intact and can be reglued to proper location.
The paint has the typical model year clear coat peeling in various areas.
There are some minor and easily fixed dings and dents to be expected for a 19 year old car with 225,000+ miles.
The previous owner was told that the a/c evaporator needed replacing so he purchased an entire HVAC assembly for $600 from a junk yard to swap out the entire unit as one piece. The car then had kept needing to be jump started at that point and he just decided to cut his losses and sell the car.
I have owned the car for a little over 18 monts now and just bought a new home. No room anymore for this beauty so now here is everyone's chance to steal it from me too.
I have a clean and fully transferrable Connecticut title to give to the buyer. Please note that I HIGHLY recommend bringing a trailer with you to remove the car since it needs work to run properly. If you have AAA with the upgrade option they will tow up to 200 miles for you. Beats paying a towing company any day. Shipping costs are completely and fully the buyers responsibility.
If you want to see the car before winning the bid feel free to ask me and I'll give directions. When bidding closes and if you are the winning bidder YOU OWN IT as is,as shown and as described. Payment is due in full 48 hours after auction close. Since I don't imagine I'll be winning the lottery with the final sale price I think anyone would have the meager funds on hand already to pay for the car.
PS : I will not disclose or discuss any amount/price that I will accept to buy the car before auction end. Please do not ask me. That gives everyone the same fair and equal chance to own the car. Thank you all for viewing my listing here and Happy Bidding. On Jul-11-16 at 05:45:41 PDT, eller added the following information:

Food for thought for those needing some independent reassurances : look at the insanely high Autocheck score it has. The "average" score of this type of mid level luxury car is 43. This one is rated a 66 !!!!! There's all the proof you need about it's history. Hopefully the next owner will appreciate how difficult it is to find a car in this year, model and miles that is rated so highly after 19 years and 225,000+ miles.
