This G500 is fully loaded and extremely rare; it is #104 of only 500 exported to the United States in 2005. Go off-roading in style and comfort in this rugged German cross-country vehicle.
It is equipped with a 292 hp, 5.0-liter, 24-valve, single overhead cam V-8 engine fed by electronic fuel injection. Power is transferred to the wheels by a five-speed automatic transmission. The driver assist features are permanent four-wheel drive, power steering, power disc brakes with anti-lock and Parktronic parking assist. The suspension includes a four-wheel electronic traction system (4-ETS) and electronic stability program (ESP). The Grand Edition Package (code ZD8) adds a grille guard, a set of Grand Edition five-spoke, 18-inch Monoblock silver alloy wheels, Grand Edition Medallions on the front fenders as well as silver plaque with the specific series number on the vehicle’s center console. Those alloy wheels are wrapped in Michelin LTS M+S2 directional R-rated tires with plenty of tread.
This example is finished in a beautiful Barolo Red Metallic, (code 544) a Grand Edition-only color. The overall paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection, most notably at the right rear fender arch. Front and rear bumpers are colored-coded and have excellent fit and finish that shows well. The swing out rear door with mounted covered spare tire, looks great and functions as designed All trim pieces are present and have a brilliant finish, including the front grille and optional grille guard. The European specification headlights and taillights are in very good condition with no hazing or cracks.
Inside, the original black leather (code VS3) seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible just like with the matching carpet and interior floor mats. The door panels and dashboard are also in excellent shape with limited wear showing. The burled walnut trim adds just enough contrast and warmth to enhance the entire interior. The Mercedes factory steering wheel is in great condition and the leather sections will warm after the outside air temperature falls below a certain threshold. This SUV also boasts power windows, power locks, automatic dual-zone climate controls, Harman Kardon nine-speaker premium sound system with six-CD changer, COMAND management and data system with GPS navigation, cruise control and more. There is a three-point seat belt for the second row middle passenger to use and the cargo bay floor comes with improved ISOFIX tie-downs.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, sometimes called G-Wagen, (short for Geländewagen or “cross country vehicle,”) is a mid-size four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna-Steyer in Austria and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes believed that 2005 would be the final year to export G-Wagons to the USA. To celebrate this supposed end of US market Geländewagens, 500 “Grand Edition” models were made available.
Included with the vehicle are its original window sticker, COMAND Operator’s Manual, 2005 Service and Warranty Information for G-Class Trucks, G-Class Trailer Operation Driving Hints, Mapbook of M-B Dealers in the US and Canada plus other maintenance and warranty documents.
Competition for this vehicle in 2005 included the BMW X5, Land Rover’s Range Rover, the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Mitsubishi Montero.
This Mercedes Benz G-Class is a classic European SUV. It is comfortable and safe as well as elegant looking; ideal for drives across the countryside or high class transport on the “Autobahn,” but with this G500. you’ll find yourself driving and looking for excuses to go off-road instead…GET OUT AND DRIVE AND BLAZE A TRAIL!!!
