Having sold several of my Mercedes-Benz vehicles over the years through eBay I've learned a couple of things: quality vehicles sell quickly if presented accurately and priced fairly.

I believe this 1991 300E 4Matic 4-door sedan to be just that - of high quality and priced fairly. You be the judge if I've presented it well and accurately.

This 'Arctic white' 300E is a very nice example of the breed. Garage kept throughout it's life, it shows the care lavished on it by, to date, a couple of contentious owners.

Just 100,500 miles, beautiful red leather upholstery and the desirable 4Matic option only add to its appeal for the Mercedes enthusiast or the new or perspective Mercedes-Benz owner.

You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer 300E 4MATIC in this fine of condition ... anywhere .

Mercedes-Benz ... known throughout the world for quality, longevity and luxury.

Through the following photos and descriptions (there are many as there is nothing at all to hide here), I'll attempt to show what a well cared for vehicle this 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300E

Please view the many photos, read the descriptions ... then decide for yourself if this the vehicle for you

So practical is the Mercedes 300E 4Matic that is has now achieved an almost cult following.

Quality, style and practicality is a combination that's hard to beat.

Its Arctic white finish with the subtle gray 2-tone lower accents make this sedan elegant in every sense of the word. A true classic with enduring qualities that will stand the test of time.

I've removed the '300E' and '4MATIC" badging from the deck lid for what I believe to be a cleaner look.

The original badging is included with the car should you choose to remount the badges with the proper adhesive, which I've also included. Your choice ...

Note: Mercedes-Benz offered these badge free cars as an option on their European sales ... with the idea being to get away from the 'who's bigger' syndrome and provide for the cleaner look.

From any angle the classic lines of these Mercedes-Benz 300Es are timeless.

In 1991, Mercedes-Benz offered these three body configurations - the coupe, wagon and 4-door sedan.

No accidents or panel damage, ever. The paint is original and looks great.

Clean, straight lines throughout.

Having been a Mercedes-Benz owner and enthusiast for over 45 years now, I've had the 'Mercedes-Benz Club of America' emblem mounted on the grills of nearly all my cars.

That said, I plan to keep this badge and it is not included in this sale. By joining the club, you will also be eligible to display a club badge and they are available from the organization for a nominal fee.

'Median Red' leather sets the tone for the trim on the beautiful interior.

All is as it should be with only very minor signs of usage over its now 25 years ... let's call it 'patina'. A true survivor with care lavished on it from day it was picked up at the showroom floor.

The 'Lloyds' color matched all-weather floor mats are not original but rather an addition of mine to protect the original carpet for the next 25 years.

No rips or tears on the leather upholstery. Just minor patina from age. Always cared for with good quality leather treatment, they are quite pleasing to the eye and a sign of a true classic.

The leather was a quite expensive option so most buyers opted the standard MB-Tex vinyl.

The 'Medium Red' interior is such a nice compliment for the 'Arctic White' exterior.
I often get compliments from others stating such when refueling and the like.

Dash, console and doors are all trimmed with the Mercedes-Benz signature 'Zebrano wood' real wood accents. Note minor cracking to the finish on the lower portion of the console.

The original 'Becker' AM/FM/Cassete radio has been upgraded to a 'Pioneer' sound system with CD and lots of bells and whistles.

Climate controls and the various console witches all function as they should.

The hidden pop-out ashtray and lighter appear as to have never been used ... a sign of a smoke free car.

No sun cracks in the upper black dashboard whatsoever.

The leather trimmed steering wheel is also in original condition.

All controls are ergonomically laid out and with in easy reach for the driver.

Mileage - just 110,527 actual to date (4,420 miles per year on average / 25 years)

Another couple of hundred thousand wouldn't be unheard of - given proper care.

The VIN tag mounted to the drivers side of the windshield showing the VIN #WDBED30D4MB316489 .

Interior light controls, slide and tilt sunroof switch and various warning lights.

Power seat controls ... 2-way memory on the driver's seat.

All four doors are sag and rust free as shown.

The rear seats show very little signs of wear or of having been used at all although they must have been.

Seat back pockets are handy for maps and the like.

A fold down armrest is a nice comfort item for 2-passenger seating.

Rear floor mats are original and clean as a whistle.

Mercedes lore has it that these W124 series of cars are the last models designed and built by the factory engineers and not the by the company accountants. The quality shows throughout.

The next few photos will provide a good look under the hood ... the important stuff.

Engine: 6-cylinder - 3.0 Liter DOHC 24 valve w/ Sequential Miltiport Fuel Injection and And coupled to a 4-Speed automatic transmission with the rare 4MATIC option (4-wheel drive automatically when needed).

All neat and tidy and well serviced throughout its life and it shows in so many ways.

Mercedes-Benz high cranking amp battery - new December of 2014.

Fuse holder with card explaining the function and proper amperage of each fuse.

Under hood data plate showing the following option codes :

222 - RIGHT FRONT SEAT, ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE
241 - LEFT FRONT SEAT ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE WITH MEMORY FEATURE
412 - ELECTRIC SLIDING ROOF WITH TILTING DEVICE
420 - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, FLOOR SHIFT
446 - TEMPOMAT, STEERING COLUMN, ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE, AND AIRBAG
491 - U.S. VERSION
519 - BECKER RADIO GRAND PRIX ELECTRONIC CASSETTE - USA
551 - ANTI-THEFT WARNING SYSTEM
588 - AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL AND ELECTRIC WINDOW LIFTERS
600 - HEADLAMP WIPER/WASHER
620 - VEHICLES WITH CATALYST TECHNIQUE
801 - ?
XXX - the 4Matic and leather is buried in the other codes

A factory diagram showing the layout of the 4MATIC (4-wheel drive transmission) and the ABS braking system.

Tires - new about three months ago- a matched set of 4 new 'Bridgestone Ecopia' - P195/65R15 (95%+ - less then 500 miles since new)

Also, new brakes both front and rear - rotors, pads and wear sensors.

I had a slight pulsing in the brake peddle indicating rotor wear and decided to just replace all.

A sign that it passed the rigid Mercedes-Benz inspection process for their resale program.

The build tag located on the driver's side B-post. Sows a build date of 07/90 and the VIN.

Info tag also located on this B-post.

Last service performed.

The trunk - all neat and tidy.

The original badging for the deck lid and the hatch for the spare tire.

The original 'Michelin' spare with its handy storage well ... the badge adhesive I mentioned above is also shown here.

Mercedes-Benz roadside assistance for the life of the car.

For peace of mind and quite handy should you ever need it.

Sliding sunroof functions as it should. No leaks, ever.

Sunroof also has a tilt function for just a little bit of fresh air on the cold days.

Some more photos of the car under different lighting conditions.

As you can see from these photos, the original 'Arctic White' paint has a deep luster.

Factory photo from the years when Mercedes were designed by engineers and built by highly skilled humans.
