California Car
All documents dating back to original purchase
Up for sale is a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbo Diesel. This car has proven to be very reliable and is in amazing condition for its age.
The Interior
The interior has been completely overhauled with perfect Palomino seats and newly refinished Zebrano (zebrawood) trim. The original floor mats and carpets have been professionally steam-cleaned. The headliner is in immaculate condition with no sagging nor stains. The rear package tray has been reupholstered in black. All windows work and do not leak. The sunroof works perfectly and does not leak. The factory Becker radio has been modified to add an auxiliary input and Bluetooth connectivity. The original First Aid Kit is intact and included.
The Exterior
The body is very straight with no major dings and the original paint is very clean with no major chips or issues with the clear-coat. This vehicle has been garaged for most of its life. All four doors close well and the strikers have reasonable life left. All rubber door seals have been freshly replaced. The windshield seal is plump and uncracked.
Mechanicals
This car has been very well maintained throughout its entire life, and all service documents dating back to the original purchase will be included. This is a true California car and is completely rust-free!
Engine
The engine starts strong and runs smoothly at idle (engine mounts and shocks are freshly replaced), and produces very little smoke. Both fuel filters have been replaced and a diesel purge has happened within 100 miles. The oil cooler lines have been replaced within 100 miles. Pre-glow relay is strong and the pre-glow cycle runs for ~4 seconds.
Electronics
There are no electronic issues with this car. The battery is brand new.
Transmission
The automatic transmission is strong and shifts smoothly and at the correct time.
Tires and Suspension
The tires are recently replaced. The tie rods, steering damper, drag link, and idler arm have all been replaced within 100 miles.
Brakes
The brakes are healthy and the brake system has been flushed and bled within 100 miles.
Climate Control
The blower fan is strong. The AC compressor engages properly. The climate control mono-valve has been refurbished, and the system blows hot and cold when it should. The A/C itself is weak and needs to be recharged.
Major service done within 100 miles:
*Diesel purge
*Fuel filters replaced
*Oil filters replaced
*Oil Cooler lines replaced
*Engine Mounts replaced
*Engine Shocks replaced
*Brake Flush
*New Zebrano wood trim
*Radio has been upgraded with aux input and bluetooth
The Good:
Refurbished Palomino seats
Refinished Zebrano wood trim pieces
Reupholstered rear package tray
Desirable factory radio modified with aux-in and Bluetooth
Door weather stripping has been replaced
Very straight body with no dents
California car! No rust!
Clean original paint with intact clearcoat
Recently replaced front suspension (tie rods, steering damper, drag link, and idler arm)
The Bad:
Electric radio antenna needs servicing. The mast cable appears to be binding on something inside the motor housing. This is a very common issue.
The muffler is missing 2 of the 4 rubber exhaust hangers. Replacing them costs $8.
The Funky:
Central locks work. The central locking/vacuum reservoir check valve has been replaced under the hood. Speakers. The two rear speakers have been replaced with BOSS Audio Chaos Exxtreme speakers. The two front speakers, however, are missing. The original front speakers were removed and suitable replacements have not been found (they're a weird size).
The fuel level gauge doesn't work, but the "empty" light does. Every so often the needle will move around, so the fuel sending unit contacts probably needs to be cleaned.
*Vehicle sold AS-IS. No warranty implied or written.
