Nicknamed der Panzerwagen “Armored Car” weighing in at more than 3. 00 pounds was a completely new body shape for model year 1972. A completely new SOHC 4. 5 litre V8 engine was housed underneath the long sculpted hood and mated to a 3-Speed automatic transmission. 1981 model year saw the launch of the 380SL model. which introduced the new aluminum 3. 8 litre V8 engine. It was much lighter and more efficient but still retained its predecessor’s excellent performance characteristics. With more luxury refinements and driver comforts. the 380SL became the must have luxury performance roadster. However which way the driver chose to drive the car. hardtop. soft top or top down. the SL was the epitome of classic luxury sports motoring. European Motor Studio is proud to offer this exceptional 1982 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Coupe/Roadster finished in a rare shade of Lapis Blue Metallic with Blue leather interior. This 380SL left the Mercedes-Benz production line in April of 1982 and invoiced to Mercedes-Benz of North America. The car was then shipped to Autohaus-Brugger in Redwood City California where it was sold new to its first owner on July 10. 1982. The first owner had the car routinely serviced at the Mercedes-Benz dealership as evident by the service book stampings. The car was sold to the second owner sometime in 1990 or 1991 and moved to AZ and has been here ever since and traveling a mere 75. 94 documented miles. The Lapis Blue Metallic paint is absolutely stunning. There are no dents. dings. scrapes or scratches on the paint of body of this car. There are no signs of rust or corrosion anywhere to be found and the body is laser straight with no signs of any prior damage or accident history. All of the chrome and trim are all in beautiful condition with one tiny scrape to the front right bumper cap. The original Mercedes-Benz 14” Bundt wheels have just been re-finished and are wrapped in brand new tires on all four corners. The leather interior is in beautiful condition and still soft to the touch. The seats show very minimal wear with only lite creasing but free from any tears. fade or cracking. All of the carpets are in excellent condition and free from any damage or stains. The wood is in exceptional condition and free from any fading or cracking. The dashboard is in outstanding original condition and does not have any of the typical cracking. The convertible top is new and in excellent condition and opens and closes with ease. All of the gauges and switchgear are in excellent condition and free from any damage or wear. This SL starts right up and idles smoothly and quietly. There are no leaks of any kind and the car does not smoke on start up or acceleration. The transmission shifts into gear with ease and shifts smoothly through all of its gears. The engine pulls exceptionally well and emits smooth power through all of the RPM range. The suspension and steering are nice and tight and free from any noises or issues. The brakes feel very responsive and free from any fade or noises. All of the electronics in the car are operating as designed including all of the interior and exterior lights. windows. locks. AC/Heater. original Becker radio. power antenna and passenger mirror. The car has recently undergone an extensive service including replacement of the front and rear shocks. front steering ball joints and dampers are new. double row timing chains has just been replaced. fuel regulator and accumulator. plugs. wires. cap and rotor and fluids are all new. All of the original warranty books. maintenance books. owners manuals. becker radio book. dealer books pre-purchase delivery sticker. VPC quality sticker. jack and Huff keys are all present with the car. All of the original dealer service stampings are in the maintenance book along with some receipts of the recent work that has been performed on the car.
