Description

Up for your consideration is a 1979 Mercedes-Benz 6.9. This was their"banker's hot-rod" of the late 1970's. There were approximately 1,800 of these sold in the U.S. over 4 years. The car featured a massive 6.9 fuel-injected gasoline engine that produced a conservative 250 horsepower and had a fully hydraulic suspension that allowed the car to achieve an unbelievable ride (and still is to this day). the 59,xxx miles are original.
This example is finished in metallic Milan Brown and a full "tobacco brown" leather interior and dark brown velour carpets. The car starts easily, runs smooth and brake system (4 wheel power disc) is excellent. Power and acceleration rivals many new cars today.
I replaced the rear levelingvalve (front valve OK), all 5 accumulator balls and 1 hydraulic hose. the system will stay up for a few days without being started andif run on a regular basis no problems. If the car sits for long periods will come right back to level when started. The front leveling valve arm came off one day while driving - repaired - the tire caught the front driver wheel-well lip and bent it out a little bit but shouldn't take much to bend it back in. The aftermarket radio and antenna don't work.Central locking works fine (replaced vacuum hoses - no leaks). Heater controls work on defrost, intermittent on other functions. Warms up - no overheating problems. All power windows work fine. Sunroof opens fine but closes slowly sometimes. I replaced the steering box with a re-built unit- it still has play in the steering and the wheel is not centered. Has the euro headlights and I replaced the fog-light lenses (were cracked). Headliner good. Leather upholstery is in fantastic condition for the age. Door panels are excellent. Original chrome/stainless trim all there - a little cloudy.Rear bumper slightly out of alignment. Has a small area of clear-coat failure on the trunk lid (see pic). Has the original brown sisal floor mats that are great. Exhaust good. Very minimal rust (the only I could find is at very bottom and corner of pass door - just barely bubble, nothing through anywhere on body. I have a new windshield gasket and hood insulation pad included in the sale. I have the original 6.9 dealer sales brochure, window sticker, mileage sticker and books.
The car is an absolute blast to drive - when you step down it just flat-out flies. Hate to part with it but circumstances have changed and don't have room to keep her.
