I’m listing my 1983 Mercedes 300td wagon. I have used it as a daily driver since I bought it in January of 2011. As of late I've have been driving my Expedition and rarely drive the Benz. I would like it to go to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have. The wagon starts well and drives well. The transmission shifts slow between 2 to 3 and 3 to 4th. It has always done this since I've owned it and hasn't gotten worse. There is no slippage when driving. When slowing down. it will shift back to low harder than it probably should. Once again. it has always done it and it hasn't been enough to bother me. At highway speeds it is very comfortable and does not road walk. The brakes stop straight with no pulling. In the last year I have put new Cooper tires on it. changed the fuel filters. adjusted the valves. replaced the rear axle shafts (one of the boots was leaking so I replaced both shafts). and installed a new battery. The climate control system works. and the air conditioning system has been upgraded to take the new Freon that can be purchased in parts stores. The A/C blows cold. All the gauges work. even the clock. It has an aftermarket cd player. I unhooked the electric antenna because someone had wired it to go up and down every time the car was started and shut off. I leave it in the up position. The cruise control works. The vacuum door locks work. although the lock on the rear gate will not always lift requiring me to unlock it with the key. All the electric windows work. The car does drip a small amount of oil that is noticeable when I park it the same spot over and over. It still has the first aid kit and tool kit that came with it from the factory. The tools are rusty. and I wouldn't want to use the 30+ year old bandaids. but they're good novelty pieces. Several years ago the rear sls system started ‘nickel and diming’ me so I deleted the rear sls with a spring kit from www. slsconversion. com/. I cannot tell any difference in the handling or ride quality. The replacement kit has done well. Like many old Mercedes. the interior has held up well. The headliner. door panels. seats. and carpets are in nice shape. There is a tear in the top portion of the driver’s seat. however I do have another blue top seat cover that will go with the car. The third seat has discoloration in the center like it may have had a spill at some point. The seat springs are not collapsed and the seats are still very comfortable. I’m 6’4” and am very comfortable in the driver’s seat. The body of the car is straight and it is not rusty. There are some chips and paint blemishes that I have tried to show in the pictures. On the lower corners of the rear bumper the chrome is flaking. I have a receipt where the car was repainted in the past. To my knowledge. the car has lived its life in NC and now VA. I have not driven the car when there has been slush and salt on the roads after a snow. I do not think the electric block heater works. but I always drive one of my other cars when it gets down below 20 degrees. Included in this auction is a red 1983 300td parts car (see photo) and numerous other parts I've collected that I have on a shelf in my garage. The parts car still has many good parts on it. The people I bought from stopped driving it when the glow plug controller failed. They told me that it ran well for them. and that its mileage was in the 250k range. I did sell the drive shaft from it. and it could be towed away with a tow dolly. Please message me with any questions or if you would like to see additional pictures. I’ve tried to include as much information as I can think of. If you have less than five positive feedbacks contact me before bidding. This car is 30+ years old and comes with no warrantees or guarantees implied or expressed. Payment must be cash or Paypal. No checks or money orders accepted. Thanks for looking!
