Feast your eyes on my fully restored 1980 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 416. This truck was bought by me in 2011 and was intended to be used in my work. After a friend. a mechanically gifted friend. asked me for a job I said let's restore my Unimog. So that's what we did. It wasn't my intention when I bought this Mog to restore it but once we got going it got the best of everything. This truck was taken down to just the engine sitting in the chassis. Frame. crossmembers and axles were inspected and given a new coat of PPG satin black. Cab was taken to a professional in town and was stripped and had a couple rust spots cut out and replaced with new steel. These trucks rust below windshield and under headlights. These areas were replaced. A PPG base/clear paint job was then added in a beautiful chocolate brown metalic. High gloss on outside and a low gloss inside. White roof really sets it off too. Chrome around headlights and door pulls was replated. Custom black leather seats with matching brown piping were built and installed. New matching headliner and door cards were made too. Windshield was installed but looked terrible next to new paint so a new windshield was ordered. This made all other glass look bad so all the rest was put in new too along with all new seals and weatherstripping. I found a friend who just happened to make custom hubcaps for these and a set was painted to match and put on. At the same time a heavy. rubber "doghouse" cover was installed to cut down on engine noise and heat. Rear tailgate was rebuilt out of new. heavy diamond plate steel and bed and sides were all professionally painted. This Mog was then treated to new tires. batteries. fluids and filters. The only thing not replaced or updated is the exhaust. If I still have it this summer I'll probably put a stack behind the cab. I have the pair of very expensive manuals which tell how to execute any service function. These are 500+ pages. Unimogs ar simple in their design and are easy to work on by any good mechanic and parts are an 800# away. This truck starts. drives. stops and runs as new. Top speed is about 50mph. Can be made faster with special gearing. I never cared to. Too much fun to go slow in. Besides. everywhere you go people just want to take pictures of it. Kind of embarrassing but fun when you get used to it. Would make an unbelievable promotional vehicle. Mileage shows about 57. 00. which is kilometers (35. 00 miles). and has less than 1. 00 hrs on engine. If you want to just turn the key and have a blast. this is your truck. It sits currently in a climate controlled garage that needs more space which is why it is for sale. 10. 00lb Warn winch is remote (wired) controlled and currently has a bugaboo in it which we are looking into. Shipping is up to buyer. I will help if possible. Reserve is $32. 00. Any questions my cell is (814) 598-0323. Jay
