Listed again due to non paying buyer. This is a rare opportunity to own an amazing car. 1977 SL retrofitted with the famous Mercedes big block - the 6. 9 liter. Perhaps 1 of only 3 in the world. This is a car Mercedes should have made. Mercedes enthusiasts know what this is about. I am old enough to remember the 6. 9 being introduced as the best car in the world. It is listed this time without reserve so please bid only if you have the funds to pay for the car. I believe this body style is the next car to sky-rocket in price. The last true Mercedes sports car with chrome bumpers and without computers. Professionally modified cars can actually be more valuable than stock if they are well done. This car is well done and was very expensive to do. A lot of extra effort was made to make this look like factory made - no power bulges or scoops in the hood to make the bigger engine fit. no cutting of the body for exhaust clearance. The only indication that this is not a stock car is the oil filler for the dry sump tank and the lack of an oil cap on the cam covers. It is 100% Mercedes except for the twin electric fans. Always a California car there is no rust on the body. however there are several bubbles on the removable hardtop. It has the soft top but we have never used it. It is probably the original so judge for yourself what you think the condition may be. The interior was new with a 2 tone custom touch in 1996 but is now looking a little tired. The leather seats have always been covered so they still look perfect. The driver's seat is shown in 6th picture. Car was last used 6 years ago so does need some TLC. I have recently added new fuel and filter and replaced the seized fuel pump so the car starts easily and drives. This car has mechanical fuel injection and as with any fuel injection system a service or cleaning is advised. PLEASE NOTE: This is a 38 year old car. It is not a project but a complete. running. unique car. As with any car not used for a while it is advisable to have the car serviced and change fluids.
