This is a 1986 Mercury Capri 5. 0 which was essentially the exact same thing as a mustang gt of the same year just far fewer of these were produced. It is a rust free arizona car and was purchased new here in 1986 in Sierra Vista. ZThis is a great car for someone who wants a neat . nique ride that has most the mechanical stuff already rebuilt and you only have to worry mostly about cosmetic issues and interior so its a reliable running project car. It gets alot of compliments and alot of people asking what it is. All information I can find on this car has suggested there was only 586 of these that were ever made this last year with the t-top/5. 0. speed combo. n to me the fact that it was not only the last year the foxbody capri was made it was also the only year they were fuel injected with the 8. 8 differential and the third tail light to make it even more unique. This car comes with most of a second full front clip. another 86 bubble hatch and its original 5. 0 302 engine. I installed a mass air HO 5. 0 302 out of a 1992 Mercury Cougar xr7 with 92000 miles on it in 2011 and have driven the car about 10k miles since. the body has somewhere around 140. 00 miles on it. The T-5 was rebuilt with new bearings and synchronizers the entire clutch system and fork. cable and flywheel were all completely replaced from 5. 0 resto. the entire brake system front and back including bearings hoses and everything have been replaced. the entire cooling system and almost every relay. bulb and sensor has also been replaced. it has a new fuel pump. and sending unit. nd bassani x pipe with cats and flowmaster exhaust. I have invested over $7000. 00 in this car since 2010 and countless hours of blood . weat and tears. This was a factory non air conditioned car. but the dealer installed AC which I removed when I installed the new engine. I do have the old dealer AC that can go with the car. I had custom full length subframe connectors installed on the car to prevent body flex. The car has no real modifications other than mass air and new parts. the car is registered and runs and drives and it does have some issues. but all minor stuff and mostly cosmetic that I never got around to and it has no problems being reliable and I would trust it to drive anywhere with some new tires. It also actually gets very good MPGs for a v8 car since it has the factory 2. 73 gear. on long trips if I'm nice the car will average 21 mpg and 14 in town. what the car does need is tires. ontrol arm bushings in both the front and rear. and all new weather stripping and seals. and power window motors are getting very weak. All lights and turn signals. horn. windshield wipers and even the cruise control. the heater and defroster and everything else work. The car was in a fender bender on the driver side front of the car and has some damage to the interior fender skirt. ut the car does have a new front clip. oes not drive crooked is aligned strait by Firestone and has a clear . on salvage title. It will need to have a new fender skirt installed to be 100% restored cosmetically. he quote I was given by a local shop was around $400-$500 The car has no rust other than small places where the paint has burned off from heat. ence the rattle can paint job. I have owned it for 5 years. inancial issues and health problems are forcing me to sell it. Buyer is responsible for picking it and its extra parts up and the car will NOT be released to anyone until paid in full.
