1967 Comet Capri 4 door sleeper with a factory 390 engine. According to the Marti Report only 42 of these 4 door Capris were made with this engine and transmission! This car is very original. incredible find! This Mercury originally had an automatic transmission. when I found the car in the wrecking yard it was missing. The drive line. kick down arm. dust cover. exhaust(single) along with the misc. fasteners were nicely put away in the car. Looks like it was at a shop being worked on when it somehow ended up getting sold to the yard. Having many friends with these type of cars I have located the correct used transmission and crossmember for the car from a friend for an additional $300 if somebody wants it. The transmission is known good unit. This would make it easy to put this beast back on the road! This car is so stock under the hood it still has the factory part # radiator. original carburetor with the C7O tag. original metal band on the heater hoses. factory thermactor smog system with the belt still on it! The pump for the thermactor still turns freely as I briefly started the car by putting gas in the float bowl and a manual trans bellhousing(I am keeping the bell) on it to fit the starter. Sounded good for the few seconds it ran on that limited fuel. This Thermactor system is very rare and should be correct for 1967 Shelby GT500 and Mustang GT fitted with these engines. The hoses and clamps on this system are still original! This car is so stock and unmolested the original trunk mat is installed and while not perfect is pretty darn nice. Under it both trunk boards are still screwed down with their original fasteners. The body on this car is very solid but not completely rust free. The drivers floor pan has rust. the rest seem to look nice. The drivers front door corners have minor rust and there is minor rust at the very bottom of the passenger side rear qtr panel(see pics). Being that I got it from the wrecking yard I DO NOT have a title for the car. they are forced to turn them into the state. I did get a receipt for the car from them so it will not be hard to get a new title for the car. While I realize the 4 door is not for everyone it is certainly a rare sleeper/conversation starter at a car show. Think of it as a 4 door Cyclone. This car could be parted out for quite a bit of money but that would be a shame with its rarity and stock unmolested condition.
