MINI has discontinued the Roadster. 2015 is the last of a four year run. The MINI Roadster is going the way of other English Roadsters like the MG and the Triumph. Two seaters aren't practical for families but they are not meant to be. They are driving enthusiast cars. Companies are always about the bottom line, arely catering to desires of unique individuals.
I custom ordered this Mini Roadster when they first came out in 2012. Their production was somewhat limited in the states. I still see very few on the road and even less for sale. A 2015 Cooper S Roadster similarly equipped will run in the mid 30K range.
This is the best handling vehicle I have ever driven or ridden. I did say ridden, bought this car to replace my motorcycle. You don't have to ware all the gear and you can speak to your passenger at normal levels with the top down, hile going down the highway. It is unique enough that it turns heads. Everywhere I go people come up to me to ask about the car. They are always surprised to hear it's a Mini.
It has a new battery (still under warranty). The top was replaced about a year ago (it was rubbing and had a small fray). The dealership put on new wipers and flushed the brakes last week as part of the standard maintenance interval. The dealership is great when it comes to warranty items they just replace it, o questions asked.
I few notes on options. The car has multilevel traction control. This allows you to reduce the level of traction control to let you drive harder before the car will take over. The seats are leatherette, his was a good choice for a convertible. They feel and look like leather but are very durable. The top is raised and lowered manually. I can raise or lower the top in about 3 seconds. I have even done so while driving when it started to rain. You can operate it with one hand. This is cool because the ease of use makes you more likely to lower the top. I often drop the top at a traffic light. The top drops into it's own space, ou can see in the pictures that it does not go into the trunk or the drivers compartment. Most convertibles eat up trunk space when they are down. The engine is very strong but smooth. The turbo responds so quickly you don't notice any turbo lag. The high power to weight ratio makes it a thrill to drive.
Another cool feature is the automatic spoiler. It raises at 50 mph and lowers at 30 mph. It can also me activated manually. I have included pictures with it up and down. The manual control is useful for cleaning under it.
I am selling my Mini because my wife bought a luxury vehicle and I needed to keep her Jeep for use onour property. I will miss it, ut I have to grow up (almost 50).
