General Motors envisioned the F2 Camaro as a working man’s Ferrari and, hanks to a better time frame and bigger budget, ffectively addressed many of the complaints enthusiasts had about the F1. Longer, ider, ower to the ground and more aggressive, he second generation was certainly more of a driver’s car, nd is widely regarded as some of the best looking and best performing Detroit steel ever produced.

At the front of the car, striking two-piece Rally Sport valence centers a four-piece “Z28” branded grille between ornate parking lights, lear headlights and mirror-like chrome bumper-ettes. Below that grille, body-width front spoiler traces the contours of that Rally Sport valence all the way back to the car’s front tires. And behind that grille, smooth, tainless trimmed hood flows into pristine factory glass which is bordered by well-maintained stainless trim and cleared by Rally Sport exclusive hidden windshield wipers. The car’s clean fuselage keeps extraneous trim to a minimum with only chrome flip up door handles, ent-free rocker moldings, ody matched sport mirrors and correct “Z28” fender emblems breaking the cadence of the smooth Classic Cranberry Red paint. And out back, 1970-exclusive low profile decklid spoiler hangs a correct “Z28” emblem above chrome trimmed, ally Sport exclusive tail lights. A straight chrome bumper that’s complete with small, ertical guards and bright stainless exhaust tips finish off the tail end of this awesome muscle car.

Although the original LT1 motor is long gone; you will be extremely pleased with the very stout Chevy 400 small block that is powering the car. This powerful motor is dressed to look just like the original LT1 that would have been in the car. This 400 is built right, nd produces a ton of low-end torque to make it feel just like the LT1! At the top of that hot engine, ir is forced through a fully detailed dual snorkel air cleaner to a familiar Holley 780 carburetor and a high performance aluminum intake. At the sides of that intake, inned aluminum valve covers loom fresh black plug wires above the exhaust headers. And at the back of that intake, EI electronic distributor rides beside a fully functional wiper motor and a Delco Moraine brake booster. Cooling is supplied by a heavy duty radiator which sends water past a correctly shrouded seven blade fan via reproduction GM hoses and prerequisite tower clamps. Spark is supplied by a new battery that’s wired to a correct 37 amp alternator.

Naturally, he cars satin black engine bay and Chevy orange block are clean to ensure you can be proud to open the hood at your local car show. Other details like original decals, functional windshield washer system and other various functional equipment are in the kind of excellent, howroom fresh condition that ensures both big points and great performance.

Naturally, he bottom of this Camaro is completely original, ith straight and solid floorpans bolted to a clean 42 year old chassis which tells the story of years of excellent maintenance. The Turbo 350 Automatic sends power to an original option G80 12 bolt Posi-traction rear end that’s packed full of pavement scorching 3.73 gears.This Camaro is equipped with the Z28 specific F41 special suspension, hich for 1970, dded higher rate front springs, ive-leaf rear springs, tiffer valved shocks, thicker front sway bar and a rear stabilizer bar. In addition to that F41 performance suspension, he car is fitted with optional J50 power front disc and rear drum brakes and an aftermarket power steering system for improved turns and stops. Everything under this Camaro looks functional and solid with even a light spraying of original undercoating still covering its floors. And power is put to the pavement through beefy five-spoke Rally wheels which spin new tires around pristine trim rings and bright blue center caps.

Open the car’s long doors and you’ll find an original GM code 711 standard black vinyl interior which is both stylish and simple. That interior is built around well-maintained strato bucket seats which mix firm padding with straight and solid frames to provide a comfortable and supportive ride. At the top of those seats a pliable black headliner, hich is stretched tightly from the car’s windshield to its fade-free package tray, nchors an original round dome light. At the bottom of those seats, reat looking original black carpet is protected by factory optioned rubber floor mats. And between those seats, wide black console props a chrome U style grip shifter below. The car’s vitals are monitored by a surprisingly straight original dash which hangs an optional electric clock, rare 150 MPH speedometer and a Z28 specific 8,000 RPM tachometer behind a chrome trimmed instrument panel and an original pushbutton Delco AM radio. The driver stays connected to the road via a great looking original steering wheel that’s complete with an “RS” branded horn button. And cargo is carried in a solid, ristine trunk that is completely rust-free.

As nice as investment grade first generation Camaros are, t seems that everyone either owns one or knows someone who owns one. And as much as we enjoy seeing killer 60’s era Muscle cars come through our doors, t’s always nice to find a pristine, econd generation Camaro. Being the avid Camaro fan that you are, ou probably know finding a well-done ‘split bumper’ tribute isn’t all that hard; but the chances of scoring a real deal RS /Z28 are very slim.

It’s a super clean, nvestment grade muscle car that will take you right back to the high octane summer of 1970!
