I bought this car from the second owner about 25 years ago. The transmission was totally rebuilt about 300 miles ago. The original GT heads were rebuilt and put on a "fresh 390". I found out about 200 miles ago, hen it was being bored out and rebuilt, hat it was actually a 428. The cam is a competition upgrade, ut not wild. Also installed new aluminum radiator, ew upgrade fan, ew belts and hoses, irtually everything in the engine compartment is new. Body, aint was completed in 1994, o it could use a refresh, ut the interior, ompleted at the same time is still new. This XL was originally a 390 with A/C and front disc brakes. A/C is not working. Parts included: I have an original working AM radio, lack leather snap on bed cover, ew kick plates for interior, ew arm rests, ew seat belts.
Needs: Tires still have new tread, ut are old and not trustworthy. There is a short in the steering column. Brake lines and/or transmission fluid lines need replacing. Battery needs charging. Bumpers are fine, ut could use a re-chrome. As mentioned, aint could use a refresh - a couple of rust bubbles under the paint on the roof. Floor boards and wheel wells were taken care of in 1994. I have not seen any other problems.
So, u>why am I selling it? I borrowed against it to pay some taxes and fly my step son and his family out for the holidays from Fort Bragg; thinking I would have money from another source to pay it off in a few months. Actually, t hurts like hell, ut the delight on my wife's face was worth it.
