To most of the Oldsmobile guys a 50 Olds powered by a J2 is the epitome of what that car should be. I wanted this car to look like it came from the factory with a J2 in it, lassy and elegant, ithout all of the chrome and polished aluminum you see in other builds. Drivetrain. 1957 Oldsmobile J2 engine rebuilt and balanced Isky 256-HYD Supercam. Original J2 tri-power by Automotion. Custom air cleaner as used by NASCAR Oldsmobiles in the 50s. Very rare! Powermaster 100 Amp Alternator. Pertronix Ignition. Custom headers ceramic coated (There were never any aftermarket headers available for the J2) 200 R4 overdrive transmission. Bellhousing, lex plate Ross Engineering. High Torque starter Ross Engineering. 9 Ford differential with 3.89 gears. Front end is Fat Man Fabrications frame stub. Mustang II rack and pinion. Anti-Sway bar. Power disc brakes. Rear end stock trailing arms with air ride. Anti-sway bar. Power drum brakes. Base coat clear coat mirror finish. All NOS trim re-chromed or polished. Bumpers re-chromed. Lead used on all seams. No structural bondo light skim prior to paint. Custom radiator cowl.
This has to be one of the best 1950 Oldsmobile in the country.
