1968 OLDSMOBILE 4-4-2 455V81968 Oldsmobile 4-4-2. Real 442 with an engine upgrade to a 455 Rocket V8 big block engine. Engine completely rebuilt by Darren Bunn of Bunn Engines. one of the finest engine builders in central Arkansas. Peruvian silver exterior. black interior. Dual twin exhausts. 3 speed Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission. B&M shifter. Hurst wheels. new tires. second thru fifth digits on the VIN are 4487 which represents 4-4-2 two door Holiday Coupe. Car drives like a dream. smooth and powerful! Non air car. crank windows. This muscle car is very refined. easy to own and easy to drive. Beautiful paint with a couple of bad spots (see picture) at the bottom of the passenger door. A couple of road chips but hardly noticeable. Bezel around the passenger headlight has a crack but I opted to keep it as is. Paint is deep and has a brilliant shine. Interior is mostly stock and is very good throughout but could use some improvements for those who desire perfection. Top of the dash sports a Covercraft dash mat specifically made for the 4-4-2 which covers some imperfections. Most of the trim and glass and chrome is very good to excellent. The engine and transmission are superb and all work well together. Brakes perfectly. The frame is sturdy and rot free. For 1968 the Olds 442 made the leap from an option package to a full fledged performance oriented model. It is a one year only body style. featuring an aggressive stance. a sports oriented fastback roofline. and a designers dream of an open grill depicting the 442 badge. Only 28465 4-4-2 coupes were built in '68 and this example was manufactured and assembled in Fremont. CA. While the '68 442 had plenty of power with its original 400 cubic inch V8 engine. this massive 455V8 makes the kind of power found only in its Olds counterpart. the limited edition '68 Hurst/Olds.
