1951 Oldsmobile Rocket 98 Convertible Garage Barn Find NO RESERVE

You are looking at a very rare garage find . this 1951 Oldsmobile Rocket 98 Convertible. I found this car sitting in a Florida garage for more then 30 years. The last time it was seen by the public was at the Tampa Bay Center Mall. no longer around). where they used to put on a indoor car show. back in the late 1970's. I provided a picture in this auction of it at its last show before it was parked for 30 years. After that it was put to sleep for more then 30 years. sitting on blocks off the ground in Tampa Florida. On September 14 2014. after finding the car a day earlier . I got the car off its blocks. loaded the car on a tow truck and took her home. I decided I wanted to get the car running so I could simply move it around my property. The things that have been done are. a complete brake job. Which means new wheel cylinders. new brakes lines. and master cylinder rebuilt. I also flushed the engine. flushed the gas tank. rebuilt the water pump. rebuilt the carburetor. rebuilt the fuel vacuum pump. nbsp;thoroughly cleaned the valve rockers. checked for proper oil pressure. transmission was flushed. new plugs. new wires. . rebuilt the starter . and reconditioned the distributor. The radiator . tires. and wiring need replaced. And I have not touched or have not thoroughly inspected the rest of the car. Car was hot wired for running. Basically I got the car to run for a few minutes. enough so I could shoot a video of it running for the auction. So I will have to list it as a non running project. I am sure I can get her running again. to help load onto a trailer for the new owner. When running. the car shifted into all its gears. taillights work. oil pressure gauge work. speedometer worked. brakes stopped. etc. The last video in this auction. is the first time the car had been driven in 30 years. I have not touched the power windows. power seats. or power top. so I do not know if they work or not. Top material has shrunk. I have not seen any major rust. and the car does not resemble a Florida salt air car. From what I was told the car originally came from Santa Monica California. There is a FL title that matches the engine blocks VIN. Title is clear and open from previous owner. Also included in this auction is the cars original. 1951 Oldsmobile sales brochure and original owners manual. The car was restored back in the early 1970's. and most of it remains in that state.
