Approximately 100 bodies and complete S1A’s were built by both Victress (1952-61) and LaDawri (1961-65 renamed “Cheetah“). while less than thirty are known to have survived. This example has never been completed. nbsp; still wearing the grey primer that was sprayed on at the Victress factory. In 1956. Harry Whipp bought this car off a local in Texas with plans to finish it. 50 years later he sold it to a friend and we purchased it from him. with plans to finish the build. In 1953 Ray Brown drove the Denny Larson built Mabee Special 1952 Victress S1A to a record 203. 105mph at the Bonneville Salt Falts. The body was unmodified. Harry Whipp had plans to drop a Desoto Hemi and Studebaker 3-speed transmission into this car. All the mounts are already located and installed. Suspension consists of 1946-8 Ford front axle and (transverse) spring with split 46-8 wishbones. Rear consists of 1949 Mercury axle with parallel leaf springs and set up for an open driveshaft. Harry also robbed the 46-8 Ford of it’s juice brakes. The fuel tank is out of a PT-19 Fairchild (WW2 trainer aircraft). The factory original top is included. Also. the ultra rare factory cast aluminum hood hinges are still on the car. Recently these cars have become stars. nbsp; featured at Concours events around the country.
