Description

1918 Maxwell model 24 Touring NO RESERVE Awesome piece of american automobile history. This is a project car that needs lots of work. The Maxwell fires right up. shifts smoothly. and is a blast to drive. The engine runs strong with zero smoke. There is surface rust above or below but no rust through. I bought the car many years ago to restore but cant find the time. The front wood wheels are weak. the back are in nice shape. Needs complete rewiring. tires are dry cracked but hold air and the tread is good. radiator has a pinhole leak but is strong and can be fixed. the carburetor float is set too high so the fuel needs shut off if your not running the car. I think the carburetor if off of a Model T but I have the correct Johnson 1" Carburetor. Maxwell electrics are a 12 / 6 volt system. They start on 12 volts and charge at 6 volts. I installed a new 12 volt battery and a 12 volt coil. It will run on the original coil with a 6 volt battery. There is a key but I didn't take the time to try to fix the ignition switch. I used a pull switch for the ignition system. The title says 1916. I'm sure this car has had many owners over the years.
