Description

Haven't had any luck on Craigslist locally. so I'm putting this out into the world. Perhaps for a parts car (though I'm still driving it daily)? No room for this. so highest bidder wins. no reserve. Mechanic's special as they say. It's been my daily ride for two years. but lately the brakes have started to grind. I don't want to spend any money on it (I already bought another Volvo) so here it is: Good: 1) starts every day- even in the coldest Ohio weather- but sometimes takes 3 - 4 seconds (starter about to go?); 2) solid ride- good bones; 3) decent aftermarket CD player/stereo with removeable faceplate (though it seems only the front car speakers work); 4) only rust are some small spots of rust on the backend by taillights; 5) sun roof works. but "whistles" when flying down the highway or in really windy weather; however it only leaks in high-powered automatic car washes. I found out; 6) heat works. but not great (don't know about the AC- I never use it); 7) 1-yr. old battery; 8) low miles (166. 20) for an old Volvo; 9) the black leather interior is fine. no rips or wear I can see. Carpet o. k. ; 10) I had all the rear lights re-wired and replaced by a mechanic (receipts); 11) a couple oil changes. even though I've only driven about 3. 00 mi. since I bought it two years ago; 12) doesn't leak any fluids. don't have to add oil or anything; 13) clear title (mine). Bad: 1) the suspension/shocks(?) are old. so it's a bumpy over rough streets; 2) doesn't want to accelerate quickly. especially uphill and when it's cold. Some friends have suggested "catalytic converter" or "transmission"? Not sure. never had it examined because I only live two miles from work; 3) as stated. brakes need replaced. The previous owner gave the brakes he was going to put on (included. see pic) but I never had them installed because until recently all they did was squeak a little when stopping; 4) tires are worn. need replaced; 5) windshield wipers work. but the fountain/squirters don't; 6) lately I've been smelling a little exhaust. so there may be a crack down there. But no sounds; 7) SRS light glowing; 8) parking brake doesn't work; 9) sometime fuel gauge doesn't register. but you hit a bump and it returns(?); 10) couple interior lights burnt out (dome. etc. ); 11) don't know if the cruise control still works. as I don't drive on the interstate with it. Cosmetic things: 1) the only rust is back by the taillights. because I think the sealing around trunk is old and letting water trickle down into the insides; 2) had some hail-damage dents when I bought it; can't really see from a distance; 3) couple little things broken-off inside. ashtray. etc. ; 4) some trim bent and peeling a little; 5) couple small dents/dings of a 26-yr. old car that sits on the street. Previous owner's ad said this two years ago: "NEW parts replaced: water pump; timing belt; vacuum hoses; distributor cap + rotor; spark plugs + wires; oil breather box with flame trap + associated hoses; alternator belt. " So. It's not fancy. but fix this up for your mom or grandma for Mother's Day. I believe with some repairs this car could go another 100. 00 miles. You could drive it home locally. but I recommend hauling it any further because of the acceleration issue . Cash or cashier's check upon or before pick-up.
