Description

2000 TOYOTA AVALON I am relisting this vehicle due to a bidder that claimed that his young Son placed the bid without his knowledge even though the bid was entered within an hour of the vehicle being listed at 9PM at night and he didn't see his status via E-mail or through Ebay for the next week and then sent a message as soon as the auction ended? Yeah right. As a result of this I am forced to take the following action. NO BIDS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM ANY MEMBER WITH LESS THAN 100 FEEDBACKS. Up for auction is a 2000 Toyota Avalon that I am listing for the owner. It has a clear Virginia Title and a clear Carfax. PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS/BUYERS: THIS IS A 15 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH 226. 62 MILES ON IT. IT IS BEEING SOLD AS IS WHERE IS AND THERE IS NO GUARENTEE THAT IT WILL PASS A STATE INSPECTION OR EMMISIONS INSPECTION HOWEVER IT HAS NO STORED CODES AT PRESENT AND I HAVE REPAIRED/REPLACED THE ITEMS THAT WERE CAUSING CODES TO BE STORED. THIS IS WHAT WE IN THE DC METRO AREA CALL A BELTWAY BEATER. THIS WOULD BE A GOOD FIRST VEHICLE FOR A TEENAGER OR A COMMUTER CAR WITH A FEW ISSUES ADDRESSED. Model: There is no emblem on this vehicle to indicate if it is the XL or the XLS however since it does not have automatic climate control nor fog lights it appears to be the XL albeit with the optional leather interior. Additionally a previous owner had the Gold Emblem package installed. This car was originally sold in Mississippi and then found its way to Memphis. TN where the current owner purchased it with 185. 00 miles on it in 2007 and he brought to Virginia with him when he relocated here in 2011 to open a new Temple. The vehicle did fail its initial state inspection but passed the following month for which the owner has paperwork. However when the next inspection was due in 2013 the owner claims that it did not pass again but he was not given any paperwork from the inspecting facility to document it nor does it have a failed inspection sticker on the windshield as required in Virginia. I can verify that there are no check engine lights on at present. Someone evidently had told him that it had broken motor mounts as well and he had 3 new ones in the trunk for it. However based upon his belief that it did not and would not pass without a substantial investment in repairs he parked the car and bought a replacement so the registration was allowed to expire in Nov 2013. The Good on this vehicle; Fairly new tires New Interstate battery installed by me 3/2015 New left rear door latch installed by me 3/2015Both VVT Solenoids replaced by me. No rips or tears in the upholstery although it needs a good detailing Engine runs very smooth. does not smoke and no visible fluid leaks All windows work as do the power locksBoth power mirrors workthe A/C appears to function properly Radio works and sounds good. The bad on the vehicle Registration is expired as is the Virginia State Inspection. Vehicle has been sitting for the past 16 months so all 4 rotors are rusted. Front bumper is cracked below the front license plate. Drivers door mirror housing is cracked but still functions properlyDent in drivers door. Interior carpet needs a through deep cleaning. I have tried to show all of the body damage in the pictures. Vehicle is for pickup only. Okay for those of you who may have seen this listing before and were watching it I was curious as to why this vehicle did not pass it's Virginia inspection in 2013 since there are no check engine lights on so I hooked up my OBDII code reader and surprise it's got 5 stored codes. P0300. 0302. 0304. P0306 and P1351. P0300 through P0306 deal with engine misfires on cylinders 2. and 6 and P1351 deals with the VVT sensor/Camshaft position sensor on bank #2. This could explain the shudder and shaking when it is placed in reverse or drive rather than a motor mount issue as I could not find any broken mounts. Shortly after I discovered this I received an E-mail from a fellow Ebayer who knows these Toyota's better than I do. I am an old pushrod V-8 guy and don't know much if anything about this VVT technology. he alerted me that he had the same problem and what the fix was. I confirmed this my doing an internet search and sure enough a large amount of information popped up concerning the VVT solenoids and how when they fail they will cause the engine to run rough when placed in reverse or drive. Even though codes were stored only for bank 2 I went ahead and ordered the solenoids for both banks and replaced them this afternoon and cleared the codes. The engine runs very smooth now with no more shake or shudder and no more codes have stored during the short drive I was able to take it on so I am confident that the problem is fixed and was not as dire as I first thought based on what the owner believed and had told me.
