Description

All new pics with more closeups and better detail just posted!Up for auction is this 98. 72 ORIGINAL MILEAGE. ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE 1969 Grand Prix Model J. This is truly a one-of-a-kind pampered vehicle and drives just like a new car! It is believed to be the only remaining survivor with the Matador Red exterior and Burgundy vinyl interior! 1969 was the only year these colors were offered on the Grand Prix. If you’re a purist and have been looking for a RARE 1969 Grand Prix. then this is the one you’ve been looking for! This 1969 Grand Prix is PHS verified. Here is the history and specifics on the car: This 1969 Grand Prix was delivered to Seifert Pontiac in Denver. CO. It was purchased by a couple who took the car back home to Grand Junction. CO. For those of you that don’t know. Grand Junction is on the extreme western edge of the Colorado border and west of the Rocky Mountains. Grand Junction has a hot. arid climate. much like Arizona. Thus. this 1969 Grand Prix has never seen snow or salt! The couple that purchased the car brand new back in July. 1969. drove the car until 2005 when they sold it to the gentleman I bought the car from. (At this point. the car had 96. 00 miles on it). He took the car back to Denver and rarely drove it. as it mostly sat in his garage. I bought the car from him in April. 2014. (NOTE: I have the contact info on the previous owner). THE EXTERIOR: With the exception of a small. quarter sized rust spot behind the drivers-side fender letters. there is no rust anywhere on any of the original body panels on this car. All body panels are straight and true. There are no dings or dents anywhere on this car. The original chrome bumpers are near mint as is all of the original chrome trim. The original chrome front grilles are flawless. The car has had one repaint. back in 2008 by the second owner. In addition to the quarter sized rust spot on the left fender. there was a softball-sized dent above the passenger side rear wheel well. The original lacquer paint was beginning to show its age a bit with some ‘spider webbing’ and spotty fading. This fact along with the two aforementioned defects. made the second owner decide to fix the defects and paint the car in its original Matador Red Code 2076 paint. The job was done right to the tune of $6000 (I have all the paperwork). The car was stripped to bare metal. the passenger side quarter panel dent was fixed. the quarter sized rust spot in the lower front fender was cut out and welded with new metal. the car was primed and painted. The original Parchment vinyl top was in great condition. but again. with the car spending most of its life in a hot. arid climate. the top began to dry out and pull away from the outer chrome strips. So the second owner replaced the vinyl top in the correct Parchment color and grain when the car was painted. There were no rust or bubble issues anywhere under the original vinyl top. All glass is original (except the front windshield) and in perfect shape. All weatherstripping and seals were replaced. The original T3 Power Beam headlights work perfectly. The original taillights look new and work perfectly. This 1969 Grand Prix was ordered with the rare wire wheel disc option. These were available as an option on all Pontiac cars from 1965-72. A lucky find on ebay was a set of NOS OEM Pontiac wire wheel discs I purchased and put on the car (see pic). THE INTERIOR: EVERYTHING in the Code 85 Burgundy vinyl interior is original to the car and is in pristine condition with NO FADING – the package tray. the vinyl seats. the head liner. the rear seat side panels. the front door panels. the front floor mats. the carpet. the AM radio. the clock. all gauges. dash. console. etc. All interior lights work perfectly. as do all the gauges and the key buzzer. The only item not working in the interior is the original clock. Even the cigarette lighter works! The original seat covers are in excellent condition. as are all of the original deluxe seat belts. The front door panels have perfect color. The folks at PHS estimate that of the 112. 00 Grand Prix’s built in 1969. less than 200 were ordered with the Burgundy vinyl interior! THE TRUNK: The original spare tire (G78-14 Goodyear Polyglas) and jack system are completely intact. The original trunk liner (how rare is that!!) is intact and is in good condition. An Ames reproduction Pontiac period-correct vinyl mat rests on top of the original liner. Additionally. a brand new Ames reproduction trunk liner comes with the car. The original cardboard side panels are present and in excellent condition. There is no rust anywhere to be found inside the trunk. The entire trunk area is extremely clean and pristine. There obviously have never been any roof leaks into the trunk with this car – another testament to a garage- kept car. THE ENGINE BAY: The original XH code 400 4 barrel engine runs and starts perfectly and was rebuilt (balanced and blueprinted) by Colorado Custom Cylinder Heads. Inc. in Denver. The newly rebuilt original engine has only 2500 miles on it. The original Turbo Hydramatic transmission shifts and works perfectly. The engine bay still retains its original battery tray and holddown clamp. alternator. radiator and shroud. wiring. heater core. Quadrajet carburetor. manifolds. and air cleaner. The A/C compressor is a period-correct replacement and was converted to R-134. A new AC Delco battery was recently installed. All maintenance records for services I have performed. come with the car. I also have all the paperwork from the engine rebuild. The original windshield washer motor and squirters are working perfectly. THE UNDERCARRIAGE: The underside of the car is very clean. The car still retains its original 3:23 rear end. A new set of Monroe Chromatic shocks have been added recently. A new exhaust system in the correct factory look was added by the second owner. This ORIGINAL 1969 Grand Prix Model J comes with extensive documentation - owner’s manual. warranty leaflet/card. 1969 Colorado license plate. a thick folder of receipts. and PHS documents. If you’re a purist. then you’ll be hard-pressed to find another original and pristine 1969 Grand Prix as nice as this one. Because of the ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE condition and originality. this is a truly an INVESTMENT GRADE Grand Prix. Additionally. a high quality sign with car specifics comes with the car. Check out the high resolution pics. Because of the way the sun is hitting the interior. it appears a few of the pics of the front seats and door panels make them look faded or splotchy. This is not the case! They have perfect color!! This one is the real deal! Don’t let this one get away! CHECK MY FEEDBACK AND BUY WITH CONFIDENCE! Please call or text me at 937-269-7909 with any additional questions or serious offers. Lastly. I hate to sell this beautiful red Grand Prix. but I've been looking for a 1969 Grand Prix with a 428 engine for awhile and I've finally found the one! So. I must part with my red one in order to purchase the 428 car. Unfortunately. I can't afford to keep both.
