1955 Porsche 550 Spyder. I had this car professionally built and maintained by SpF fabrication in Escondido Ca. and Gervais High Perf. engines in Menefee ca. Chassis is by Vintage Spyder in Anaheim ca. 100% tube framed car. never a pre-existing automobile. Not a "kit" car! Completed in late 2013 this excellent little road car is powered by a Bernie Bergman 2387 VW engine and fueled by two real Weber 44 carbs with hex crossbar linkage. Straight cut Engle 120 cam gears and tuned high performance headers with mini FlowMaster exhaust sounds amazing. The motor has approx. 170 hp and total body weight is 1. 65 lbs. fast. The body is expertly designed and finished in very strong fiberglass. Engine tin is Porsche 911 style center mount fan shroud. polished aluminium valve covers. Bosch distributor high flow oil pump. An electric oil fan has been installed to help cool the motor oil. A real mid engine sports car (with engine and transmission reveresed and in front of the rear axle) this Spyder is beautifully balanced and maintains its integrity at high speeds and tight corners. Suspension is handled through KYB gas shocks in front on adjustable VW front beam and Bilstein Coil Overs in rear. Braking is done through 4 wheel Willwood disc brakes with dual master cylinders. Tires are period correct Firestone F-560s. 125/65 in front and 155/65 in rear mounted to Mooneyes SpeedMaster wheels. 15"x5" Car is 12 volt with high cranking output Odyssey Battery. has LED rear reverse bullit lights and VW notchback European side driving lights. clear glass. very classy. Interior and inside of rear bonnet or engine cover is small strip lighting to illuminate the interior and the engine. very helpful and conceiled. 5 point racing harness keeps driver and passenger securely in their leather stitched bucket seats. Guages are Porsche 356 style and the standard of the 550 series. steering wheel is super lightweight by Jims racing Products as is the shift ball. Carpet has period correct VW/ Porsche basket loop brown trimmed in brown vinyl. CNC pedals and hydraulic clutch by Jims racing. This little real race car is built to last and built to go fast! Smooth acceleration. incredible braking. tight cornering and elegant body lines are this cars trademark. A 50's style customized 550 Spyder with modern power and ingenuity this 550 is always reliable and has never had any mechanicle issues. only performance upgrades. The car is always garaged and only has 3. 60 miles. Truly a modern classic this is a race car for the road. an eye turner everywhere it goes it is a real FREEDOM machine! The paint is semi gloss metallic burgandy. single stage and the body is free from all emblems. trim and decoration. there is a single very hard to see drip from the last coat of paint and it being metallic hard to touch up. the right front fender corner closest to the ground has a small scratch and ding that has taken off the paint easy fix if so desired. not at all a must. The exact color code and paint is available and very easily obtained to do any touch up work desired. The front nose of the car has a few small road chips. very small. The car is registered as Special construction and has gone through all of the required CHP and brake and light inspections as well as the Cal DMV referee where it was blue tagged. so all of the paper work is correct and legal. easy to register and easy to insure. is currently registered through 2016 and insured through AAA.
