Description

This is about the 200th TR-3 manufactured in 1956 under serial number TS-9399L and first registered in New York in 1957. It has a long history as a racer and more recently as a vintage racer. I have only recently refurbished the car with the aim of making the nice. very dependable driver it is today. While it had a frame-off restoration with new floors. rockers. and various other body panels about 13 years ago. the work was done in order to create a strong. solid. vintage racer rather than a show car. Areas where sheet-metal typically rusts or stress cracks form have been beefed up. Where pieces were repaired rather than replaced. rusted metal was cut away. new metal welded in and waterproof aluminum filler was employed as needed. The roll bar is included with purchase but not attached to car. With the exception of a couple seasons of vintage racing. the car sat in the garage until 2009-2011 when I stripped it to bare body and frame. repainted it and built up a fresh engine. The car was completely rebuilt. by which I mean all suspension components. engine. transmission. rear end and brakes. It retains racing features like TR-6 front suspension components. stiff spring. one-inch sway bar and aluminum front hubs. It comes with a bolt-in rollbar which SCCA and SVRA will not allow. or it can be had with a welded-in bar or a cage if you want to race. I believe that you will find it has about the same ride as stock. but with absolutely flat cornering. It is painted in pearl white lacquer with a lacquer clear-coat. As you will see it needs the wheel hump upholstery. glove box and has a plexiglass removable windshield. all as the result of my ambivalence about making it a driver or a racer. If you want to show a car at Amelia Island etc. this is not the car for you. Mileage is unkown. engine # does not match. If you want to just bomb around the town. do club tours or rallies. or perhaps make a SCCA solo or vintage racer. YOU WILL LOVE THIS CAR!
