2009 ZENN ALL ELECTRIC CAR (NEV)
Please read to the bottom. Additional photos will be added soon.
These Zenns are getting hard to find, specially since they were among the last ones produced, ere made from a REAL car, ndthey came with the Zenn upgraded AC electric motors. Everything works as it should, br>How many trips do you make from your home that don't require you to travel more than about 20-25 miles? I use it for trips to the bank, ost office, rocery, estaurants, ork, nd my insurance is about $125/year! This is a 72 volt NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle, r LSV -Low Speed Vehicle). Please don't confuse this vehicle for one of the golf carts that are converted for street use like the GEM, ord Think, otoEV etc. These These other NEV brands start at about $8,000 and go up in price quickly (approx $15,000 or more loaded) when you begin to add options like real wheels and tires, tereo, oors, oof and windows, hings that protect you from the weather. Most still provide almost no room for cargo unless you want to hang a golf bag off the rear.
The Zenn has a highway style tire that's 13 inches on a nice Alloy rim, ot little golf cart or motor scooter type 9-12 inch tires. This car is not for the Interstate, owever itwill get you anywhere around town you need to go LEGALLY on streets where the streets speed limit is 35-40 mph or lower.Check your own local areas for possible speed restrictions. The other neighborhood electric vehicles, hich are almost always based on the golf carts usually go somewhere between 20-25 mph.The typical distance you can travel, s up to 80 miles with lithium ion batteries. With new regular lead acid style batteries the range is approximately 20 to 25 miles and the set of 6 - 12v batteries is very affordable at between $800-$1500. Your range may vary depending on terrain, emperature and how much accelerator pedal you use. Since most of the neighborhood electric vehicles are basically golf carts the tendency is to press the Accelerator pedal down to the floor to take off. If you do that in this car you will burn rubber. The battery pack that is in this car currently is an aging AGM lead acid style. There are 6-12 V batteries. The existing batteries are weak butI am currently getting only about 5 miles range and this car will need a new set of batteries soon as they are about 4 years old. There are no dents, cracks,no damage, o rustand no significant scratches on the body. The interior is just like new. See photos. This car has approximately 3850 miles on the odometer.
This 2009 Zenn is a really smart car. The body color is a fine metalflakesilver and features keyless entry, air-conditioning, tereo, ower windows, our wheel regenerative disc brakes, lloy rims, utomatic transmission and features aspecial Custom Programmed Curtis 72 V controller, llowing it to cruiseat 40 mph. it will politelypin you back in your seat when you come off the line, f you wish. Of course, f you drive like a race driver you will reduce your range considerably. But it is fun, n the occasional take off from the stoplight, o leave the crowd in the dust.Zenn motorcarswere produced in Canada from a highway production vehicle originally designed to do approximately 70 miles an hourwith a diesel motor by the French car company MicroCar. Zenn bought about 500 ofthese Microcars without engine or transmission and equipped them with electric motors. What differentiates these from the typical LSV or NEV is that these were NOT build from a golf cart chassis and parts are mostly not proprietary and are available, f necessary. I havehad no problems with this car and it has required no parts other than a windshield wiper blade which I was able to get from my local auto parts store and a controller reprogram from a highly acclaimed California EV speed shop. For greater range you will need a new set of batteries. This is a fun car to drive and will plug into any 110V wall outlet and get a full charge in less than 8 hours, ith lead acid batteries. You can recharge to80% full inabout four hours. It takesonly about two hours to fully charge a Lithium Ion battery pack. This oneis plugged in anytime it is home and I have noticed no significantincrease in my home electric bill. I also plug this in occasionally at work so it is fully charged in the morning and when I get off of work (about 3 miles away). This is precisely why I must sell thistruly 'smart car',because my job is soon to be taking me out of town. Speaking of Smart cars, his is slightly larger than a Smart Car and it is similar in size to the basic mini Cooper.
Zennshave a built-in DeltaQ 72V 'smart charger' and only requires an extension cord to plug it in to any groundedhousehold outlet.I totally love this little car and will dearly miss it but I'm going to require a more conventional vehiclefor the highway. Perfect as a second car to get you around town. I am the second owner and it has been driven all over New Orleans, hich is where the car must be picked up from (70124). $300 paypal deposit required immediately and you must allow adequate time for a personal check or money order to clear. Balance in cash may be paid at time of pickup. I reserve the right to sell this car locally and end the auction at any time.
