1971 Triumph TR6 with Hardtop Please consider buying my previously restored 1971 triumph TR6 with hardtop and soft top at a respectful price. I have owned this car 16 years and acquired it shortly after a previous owner put in a lot of work to make it sweet. I have owned and restored many British cars for the last 44 years and can state that this is a very strong driver that can be acquired for enjoyment or full restoration. To that end, am providing all the evidence you need to make a respectful bid on this car. I have started with a very reasonable reserve. This car will continue to appreciate. Hagerty insurance is $130/yr and historic tags are cheap, aking it an ideal second car and weekend thrill. I have too many cars for my suburban existence. Let me add for anyone who is not steeped in classic car restoration or ownership, he TR6 is THE car to own if you want to tinker. Virtually every part you can think of has been remanufactured or is still available for this car. The quality of replacement parts through Motorhead generally exceeds OEM grade and used parts and the occasionally parts car are widely available. See pics, ar is very straight, o evidence of incidents. Car was restored to a high level about 18 years ago. Has very strong roll bar inside, o car is very stiff. No sags. The frame is solid, he attach points are rust free. I have a box of spares and it appears the previous owner bought everything he could find, own to new snaps for trim and brass inlet tubes for the engine. I have OEM hose clamps in a box and old taillight lenses because they were replaced. Engine is VERY strong, t had to be rebuilt, nd rebuilt for performance. It runs best on premium. The car has standard Strombergs, ebuilt and tube headers going to 4 outlet Borani exhaust, till good, ut surface rust on mufflers. Sounds like a Mustang 5.0. Gearbox shifts great, uiet, o sign of synchro wear. I replaced the clutch, have a spare new disk in “the box”. Dash and interior all replaced. Factory hardtop, eeds new headliner, therwise original and complete with a few pepper spots under a window. Convertible top never gets used, t’s probably AMCO, ery high grade and in really good shape. Newish Top Boot. I noticed a strap is broken, eplacement strap included. Chrome is generally very good. Rear bumper is a little dusty. Has radio blanked out, ut there is a British Leyland radio included as well as an early pushbutton Panasonic. Also have the interior trim for the speaker installation. All glass good. Most rubber is good to excellent – again all replaced at one time. Brakes should be fine; replaced a few thousand miles back, ew Master Cyl kit included.. Tires are excellent Yokohamas, bit oversized, nd I keep them soft for a smoother ride. New rear springs. Spare in the trunk. Car has ALWAYS run, fter I initially replaced the starter. I impress people with the quarter turn start, t’s that good. Takes a domestic oil filter, new air filters in the box. Has shoulder and lap belts. My friend pointed out that the rear shocks are not absorbing; these can usually be fixed by replacing the fluid. I have fluid and another set of shocks in box. The tach is probably good, ut the little nylon gear in the distributor needs to be replaced; Motorhead has it, t’s a quick fix. Include a new cable too. Spare tach in the box. The speedo says like 32,252 miles. The odometer counts funny, o it is wrong. There are 2 additional speedos in the box, ne says 99999, ikely wrong, he other says low 80k – that may be right. The rear-end sings a little bit, nd occasionally it will slap, ot on every shift or anything. The diff attach points are all good and the mounts have been replaced. Lights generally work, ut it is old Lucas and you have to screw around with the rear sockets sometimes to keep the turn signals up. The right fix for those is obviously, ndependent grounds in new sockets to clean bullet connectors.Spare Lucas Headlites included.
Floors are solid as is all major frame and body parts. As shown, here is pepper rust on the rocker panels and break through rust on bottom of the front fender. I have the new trims for them as well, ut I did not put them on until I could address that. To me, his is minor in the big scheme of owning a 45 year old British car that was enjoyed. I would NOT replace the rockers, t’s not that bad. Whether you let in some metal or clean them up with POR 15 is up to you. I chose not to cover it up with a couple weekends of bodywork in order to be straight on the condition. There is also a small hole in the rt. rear valence, he trunk lid rear lip is showing signs of moisture damage, n old luggage rack hole is popping though. Eventually you can paint the car relatively quickly or drive it as is. As an aside, his similar 68 TR-250 driver just sold for $18,100.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/321794282760?rmvSB=true
