This '80 TR 7 was completely disassembled/reassembled by previous owner over a period of years. The engine, ransmission, ear end and suspension were all removed. The under side was coated with POR-15, hen body and engine bay were painted. The reassembly used all new hardware and hundreds of new parts too numerous to list (all documented by previous owner in a 3 ring binder with part number, escription and cost). A rebuild of transmission and engine was not necessary. However several engine accessory components, uch as an up-rated water pump and alternator, ere replaced. The seats were recovered, arpet and top were replaced during reassembly. Great pains were taken to keep the car as as original looking as possible.
Last summer the car spent several weeks at Triumph World Service in Edmond, klahoma. During this visit the valves were adjusted ( not an easy task on a 2 liter engine! ), echanical fuel pump and lines were replaced, iming chain, ensioner and front cover replaced along with several smaller issues being addressed. The radiator was replaced at a later date with an aluminum unit.
A common problem with later TR 7's is hard starting due to a faulty auto choke mechanism (called a FASD). This was fixed by replacing the carbs with the same type from an earlier TR with manual choke. The car now starts instantly on the first try !
The tires are Vredestein with about 2500 miles. The wheels were also replaced with new OEM steel wheels.I have the original beauty rings but, s pictures show, re not installed. Thhe battery was just recently replaced.
As the pictures show, his is a very nice TR. There are some nicks in the paint and one of the top snaps will not snap. The flapper valve in the fuel filler neck will not open completely making refueling a chore. But everything works including the clock .Amazing on a 35 year old car !
I will be glad to answer any questions you might have.
