Are you looking for something different for your daily driver or to add to your collection? This may be just the car for you! This listing is for 2001 Mercedes Benz A Class Turbo Diesel. California Registered! While very popular in Europe this car has rarely been seen in US. This particular car is even more rare. It has been modified by the previous owners. titled and registered in USA. To make it even better it is currently titled and registered in California. It would be nearly impossible to try to import and register a car like this now days from Europe. This car has been in California for many years and has been registered and renewed without any issues. The car is currently registered and plated. We purchased this vehicle 3 years ago and used it as one of our promotion/ show cars. It was displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2012 and 2013 and has been used on weekends as our family car when we needed a 4 door car. The car is in good condition with no known issues. It starts and drives very well and looks great! Here is a list of modifications that were done to the vehicle:Exterior:The car was repainted from the stock Gray to the Cadillac CTS-V Metalic Gray PaintDuring the repaint most of the rubber trim was replacedNew windshield was installed about 500 miles ago due to a crack Newer headlights and tail lights were fitted by the previous ownerTail lights were smoked to match the paintA custom Carbon Fiber Diffuser was fabricated in to the rear bumperInterior:New Mercedes Benz Floor MatsMOMO PedalsHandling:H&R Springs and upgraded shocks were installedMOMO Corse Custom 17" Wheels - excellent conditionHigh Performance Yokohama S Drive Tires - like new with little wearPerformance:MADNESS GOPedal - Throttle Module that allows you to program throttle responseA custom dual exhaust systemCustom Audio System:Pioneer Double Din Navigation Head Unit w/ DVDBluetoothArc Audio High Powered AmplifiersKicker SubwoofersPolk Audio SpeakersCustom Fiberglass Box fabricated to sit flush with the boot floorLot's of money was spent on bringing this car to the US and getting it to the point to where it could be registered. In addition. much more was spent to repaint the car. replace rubber moldings and trim. service it. properly modify the suspension (we imported parts from Germany). add wheels. tires and build a very nice sound system. The car is rarely used and less then 1. 00 miles has been put on in the last two years. It is very clean and can easily be shown again at car shows or used for promotion. The exterior is free of damage. The overall exterior condition is good with no dents or dings. The interior is exceptionally clean with little wear. The carpets and seats are in excellent condition. Car drives great and the AC has been serviced and blows cold. Known issues: The sunroof stopped working and would get jammed occasionally. The motor seems to work fine. but it gets hung up do to what looks like a broken or work gear. We have ordered an entire new sunroof assembly and it will be included with the car (not installed). There is a missing button in the center console. It was like this when we got the car and we have no idea what it is for. It could have been a blank. Note:Parts are easily found online and are relatively inexpensive if the need ever arose to have repairs done. The diesel engines in these cars are designed to go for a long time and this one has plenty of life left. The vehicle has 47. 36 miles on the odometer. but we cannot certify that this is accurate. The previous owner told us he replaced the speedo cluster when he did the conversion. All pictures are current (1/15)The car is located in Long Beach. California and is available for inspection. We can also do a detailed video/ pics of any part of the car you would like to see. If you are out of state we can assist you with shipping as long as you cover the costs. We work with several shipping brokers and can assist you with getting everything set up. Here is a little information about the model:Launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the autumn of 1997. the W168 A-Class was quite unusual for Mercedes-Benz featuring a front wheel drive layout and unusual tall yet short body. One innovation of the W168 was a frontal-impact absorption system called the "Sandwich" (see patents DE4326 9 and DE4400132 in the name of Mercedes-Benz). In the event of a violent frontal impact. the engine and transmission would slide underneath the floor below the pedals rather than entering the passenger compartment. This was the first complete exterior designed by Coventry University trained Steve Mattin. for which he was named Autocar magazine's 'Designer of the Year'. Between 1997 and 2004. 1. 1 million first generation A-Class models had been sold.
