I am offering my 1960 Austin Healy “bugeye” Sprite VIN AN 5L / 14580 and engine 9C-U-H 14708 for sale . The full restoration of the car to a high standard was completed approximately 6 years ago by the previous owner. He purchased the car in 2007 from his sister who bought it new. I have a Virginia title in their father’s name dated from 1963. It has around 35,514 original miles. I have owned the car for 4 years and driven it very little. It is a beautiful car that is in excellent running condition. I have other interests and I’m reluctantly selling it. BodyThere has been no crash damage. The paintwork is excellent. There are a few small paint touch ups on the door edges (less that 4). There are occasional prep issues that do not detract. The panel gaps are consistent with the factory standards. The panels are straight and flat. The floors and rockers have been replaced correctly. It has a new top that fits well. It also has new side curtains. The top frame is original. It has Michelin X tires that have low miles. The windshield dates to at least 1963 as noted by the vintage sticker. There is a wiper scratch on the passenger side. I have not tried to polish it out. Drivetrain
The engine is the original 948cc. It was rebuilt and detailed at the time of the restoration and has few miles. It starts easily and does not smoke. Oil pressure is excellent and above 40#. I did a compression check last week...#1 170 #2 175 #3 165 #4 170. There are no abnormal noises and no significant oil leaks. The transmission is the original and it too was rebuilt. It shifts smoothly. These gear boxes are not synchronized in first. The rear end is quiet. Interior
The interior has been completely redone as seen in the photos. It has an aftermarket complete carpet kit. The gauges work as well as lights, orn and turn signals. General This is a low mileage bugeye that has been restored and detailed to a very high standard but it is not perfect. It is a high quality driver that you should not hesitate to use and have fun. The Old English ivory was the original color. It also had a red interior originally. It is ready to be driven and enjoyed. There aren’t many bugeyes that are better than this one. I have posted 140 photos on Photo Bucket. Contact me for the link.
Other projects dictate sale. I am not an expert so ask questions. Terms of the sale I will provide a good Kansas antique title
