This Ford Ranger EV is an original Electric Vehicle (EV) built by Ford Motor Company at itsEdison,New Jerseyplant. This is not a hybrid, onversion vehicle or early prototype built by TDM. There were 1,500 Ranger EVs originally produced by Ford and this is one of approximately 400 vehicles that remain in existence, aking them a future collector's item.

This vehicle was originally built for use with Lead Acid batteries and has custom suspension designed for a 1,200 lb battery pack. This vehicle is being sold without batteries and is a perfect low cost chassis for someone looking to build a Lithium Ion conversion electric vehicle and does not want to start from scratch.

BatteryVoltage: The Lead Acid harnesses provided with this vehicle were originally designed for 39 each 8-V Lead Acid batteries for a 312V nominal pack voltage.

Range: Will vary based on how much battery capacity (total kWh storage capacity you install). User vehicle range will vary based on temperature, riving habits, peed, levation changes, se of HVAC, ccessories, ength of stand after charge, attery age / mileageand frequency of full charging.

Drive System: AC Induction Motor (90 HP) with single speed reduction differential, ll located on the rear axle.

Things to know before purchasing one of these vehicles.

Does this include the off-board charger (Power Conditioning Station, CS):The vehicledoes notinclude the PCS level II charger which utilizes the Avcon conductive charge paddle. The PCS requires a 208Vac - 240Vac / 40A input per manual. People have been known to run these off of dryer outlets (30A circuits) without any problem. If you do not presently have a charger, CSs can be purchased from the internet. Battery M.D. does not have any for sale at this time.

* Caution: although Avcon Power Pak PCSs can charge the Ford NiMH vehicles, here are some known incompatibility issues (relating to charge pauses when battery is hot and not re-initiating charge after cool down) and therefore Battery M.D. does not recommend using the Avcon Power Paks with a NiMH truck. Battery M.D. recommends using the EVI brand of PCS which does not appear to have this vehicle latching / communication problem.

Will I be able to service my Ranger EV by myself? This vehicle is a high voltage vehicle and requires special high voltage training and tools to repair. Service of vehicle by unauthorized service personnel can result in vehicle damage, amage to vehicle components, nd injury. Therefore it is highly recommended that the auction winner live within 100 mile radius of a Ford Authorized Ranger EV repair facility for future support and service. See list below.
