This is hard for me. I really, eally like this truck! I purchased my very much loved Chevy C10 over 12 years ago. I scoured the internet for the perfect example and found it in Boise Idaho. I flew out with my then girlfriend, now wife), nd drove it home (we named him Boise) through the mountains and the valleys of the great North West, hrough Yellowstone, he Badlands and then onto Mt Rushmore where we slept in the bed under the stars. What a great trip, hat a great truck.
Once back home in IL, decided i wanted to make it perfect with more modern components such as disc brakes all the way around, ew shocks all new front suspensions parts and hell, hile im at it, ew fuel lines, ew brake lines, tc etc etc.... all the while keeping the stock look. I was looking forward to tackling the job, ought all the parts, urchased a 4 post lift and all the equipment.. and then my new bride became pregnant and life took over. So my Boise sat patiently for 4 years before i decided i would just send it off to a Hot Rod shop and let them do it. Well, fell into the trap of paying 75% upfront for an offered discount and the unscrupulous shop took my money and after 3 years of fighting them to finish, hey completed the chassis and i yanked it from their hands. These guys did the classic rob Peter (me) to pay Paul (another sucker in the shop) and took advantage of my patience and distracted life. Dont ever fall for this game! Lesson learned.
Ive since moved my family and my car collection to NC where the weather is warm and the driving time is long but sadly i have not finished my Boise. Ive grown my car collection to 12 and time (lack of) and interest (lack of) and age has taken over.
Ive debated finishing Boise or just letting him go to another who will finish it to their liking. This is why i havent put the engine and trans back in. I seriously am leaning toward and LS3 with the carb setup and a 700R4. I have/had big plans for the completion but i doubt i will get to it considering all my other cars. In the end, cant use a 3 passenger truck, have 3 kids and id rather have another 4-5 pass vintage car.
What needs to be finished:
Rebuilt 350 Engine to be installedRebuilt TH400 Trans to be installedWringFuel lines connectedDrive shaft reconnectedExhaust2" hole in floorCab corners have rust (not bad)Rockers need to be replaced (I have 2 NOS)Paint however current paint is not bad at all
The entire chassis has been powder coated and every single component has been replacedNew fuel tank under bed (original is still behind seat)
I have $22,500.00 investedThe entire chassis work cost me: $12,800.00 (have receipts)Purchased the Truck for: $8,000.00Wheels and Tires: $1700.00
The truck is wonderful. It wouldn't take much (time/money) for me to complete and i would then sell for $25,000.00 ( a loss yes, ut money is not a concern) but i hate seeing it sit and would let it go to the right buyer. The truth is, cant use a truck with my family of 5.
I would trade + cash for a running Model A or a 50's Ford or a 60's wagon or convert.
Title in hand, ots of other parts, ncluding extra wheel and tires.
