This car was discovered, arely visible, uried in someone's garage. Upon further inspection, everal rarities were plainly evident. First and foremost is the engine. Staring back at us, fter the SS ram air hood was raised, as the very potent Grand Sport LT4. That's right, n LT4. I thought to myself, hat's going on? This engine was available in the Corvette Grand Sport and about 110 SLP converted 97 Z28's. I opened the drivers door and much to my surprise on the end of the door, rinted on the factory option label, as listed LT4 as the engine installed. I have worked at a gm dealer for many years so I had the vin checked thru gm. It stated the lt1 as the factory engine and yet plainly visible was the original option label stating something different. PROTOTYPE possibly? We think it could be but you can draw your own conclusions. The car has many SS amenities yet does not show up in the SLP registry. Why? Again could this be a prototype that left the St. Therese, anadian factory with these options already installed. We do not think it was a dealer conversion..aka Yenko Camaro..rather some type of prototype prepared by General Motors. The car has the Borg Warner 6 speed topped by the expected short throw Hurst Shifter, nbsp;SS hood, S stripes, S 30th anniversary seats, S floor mats, S dash emblems and SS exterior badging. If you are looking for a rare Camaro, hen this is for you. After researching for months, haven't been able to locate even one other example of a 1997 Z28 with an LT4 listed on the factory rpo label. Again, e think this could be a prototype of some kind, ossibly a test run for a potential car not yet released to the public. You be the judge. Thx in advance.
