The MP Lafer is a Brazilian two seat convertible roadster manufactured from 1974 thru 1988 and whose design was loosely based on both the MG-TD and Morgan lines. A total of approximately 4,500 cars were sold with approx. 900 shipped to the U.S. and Europe. Early cars were shipped stateside completely finished with all new mechanicals supplied by "VW do Brasil" but due to new D.O.T. regulations implemented in the late 70's it became necessary to ship the finished bodies (with all accessories, nteriors, tc.) from Brazil and mate them to a donor VW chassis here in the U.S. This particular car was originally assembled in 1981 and was completely rebuilt/restored in 2008. This car was built on an early 1968 modified VW floorpan and features a professionally built 1,968 cc dual carb engine, ebuilt 4 speed manual transaxle geared for cruising, completely new suspension components including 4 wheels disk brakes fitted with BBS 14" rims. The car features a full convertible top with glass side windows which can be raised/lowered or completely removed and stored in the front trunk. Interior features full leather seats and door panels including mahogany door trim. Solid mahogany dashboard featuring original MP Lafer gages which have been restored along with matching original mahogany MP Lafer steering wheel. Fully finished front trunk.
