1996 Volvo 850R

For sale is a1996 VOLVO 850R SPORT WAGON. For "turbo brick" enthusiasts, hisincreasingly rarecar offers a greatopportunity to own a clean example of a classic from the 1990s.
Mechanically, his car is up-to-date on its maintenance and just had its routine oil change last week. The PCV system (a known weak link in these cars) has been preventatively updated. Other recent maintenance includes a new alternator, iming belt, ires, nd radiator. At 143,000 miles, his car runs strong and – especially when the turbo spools up – pulls hard, specially at highway speeds. The car just passed smog here in California and will be re-registered this week. This is a reliable car that I would not hesitate to drive anywhere (in fact, just recently drove it back to Los Angeles, hrough a blizzard, rom Salt Lake City), nd it needs nothing mechanically major.
Known, inor mechanical needs:
• The transmission torque mount could stand a replacement ($30 on IPD and an easy DIY fix).
• The windshield washer is not getting fluid to the windshield at the moment. The pump works, o I suspect the lines are clogged somewhere. Will see if I can track down and fix this between now and the end of this listing.
The body/paint on this car are in remarkably good condition, specially in light of its age. The front bumper and lower lip (unobtainable should it be damaged) are fantastic condition. The rubber portion of the front bumper is a bit faded, s is common with these cars, ut some Showroom New Grey would have it back in shape in no time.
This is, f course, 20 year-old car, o a bit of TLC might be in order, epending on how particular you are. The power mirrors/windows all work, ut the mirror switches are a bit moody – a new switch ($30 on Ebay; easy DIY install) would remedy this.
The alcantara seats are in great condition, hough the passenger seat has a few small pocks (but no tears). The plastic on the dash nearest the windshield has some cracking, ut the dash cover (pictured) both conceals this and should protect against further damage. Carpets and headliner are all in terrific shape and the sunroof works great and is watertight.
The stock 850R wheels have some curb rash, ut nothing horrible and they could be nicely refinished (wheel pictured is representative of all wheels' condition).
Included with the car are a tow hitch (great for bike rack); the original manuals; all service records available; and key(s).
