The anniversary edition had the following differences when compared to regular SL500's for 1997:
o Special Paint (019 -- Designo Red) -- More of a burgundy than a red
o Interior Color (265- Mushroom)
o 1996 style steering wheel with wood
o Chestnut wood trim
o Elimination of model designation on rear lid (No SL500 badge) -- Note, revious owner added this to the car
o Special Leather Seats (no perforations)
o Special Insignia 40th Anniversary Floor Matts
o Special Owner's Manual case.
o Left Auto dim mirrors
o Special EVO2 17" Wheels (6 Spoke) -- Previous owner replaced with chrome AMG wheels
Pros: Hardtop included, ll new front and rear rotors and brake pads replaced by Hendrick Mercedes last 12 months (with less than 500 miles driven since then). On 8/18/14, 2,300 worth of work including a new fuel pump and relay, omplete tune-up, il change with synthetic oil, brand new tires and 4-wheel alignment. New battery with AutoZone warranty. Recently detailed. Car has a lot of power and runs very strong.
Cons: Small dent in the trunk lid. Minor scratches, n trunk lid and below front bumper. AC needs recharge. Front convertible top pulldown motors work, ut leak hydraulic fluid (they need to be replaced). Left-side catalytic converter needs to be replaced. Minor pitting in the wheels. Driver-side seat shows wear. Crack in soft-top rear plastic window.
