2002 CADILLAC DeVILLE, BASE SEDAN 4-DOOR 4.6L V8

This breaks my heart. I purchased this car a few years back to drive my 92yo mother around (everyone in the family owned pick-ups and vans). The car was perfect for the ease of getting her in and out. On February 29th this year I retired. On my way home from the job that day the engine was running rough and set a P0307 code (cylinder-7 misfire) along with the engine temperature rising. I removed the rear valve cover and checked the head-bolts. Two were loose and would not tighten down. Rear spark plugs were replaced along with a new valve cover seal set. The coolant had no oil in it and the oil had no coolant in it. Both fluids were replaced anyway. Engine will run for hours at idle but will overheat within a mile while driving. No external leaks were observed. Code P0307 will clear but resets in a short period while idling. Idle remains rough. Engine temperatureat idle from a cold start will rise to 224 degrees(F) then the thermostat and fans kick-in to bring the temperature down to 210 degrees (F). It will cycle like this for hours at idle.The engine has been burning oil for about a year. Smokes blue when restarting after running and when accelerating (valve guides/seals and/or rings ?)

Now for the "CONS" about this vehicle. The trunk has a water leak but is in excellent condition. The front ball joints and tie rod ends are worn. Underside of hood latch-loop area has minor rust. Left-Rear tire valve stem has slow leak (needs air every three weeks). TRACTION CONTROL service light trips intermittently on turns or bumps (maybe rear hubs). Rear bumper has scuffs on left corner and paintsplits from an impact on right corner (see pictures). Front bumper and grille have paint chips (see pictures). The front bumper paint issues are from a previous owner's reported"bumper-bump" incident.One key needs resetting (goes into ignition cylinder but wont turn).

The "PROS" about this vehicles are as follows. Clean interior, o tears in seats or upholstery (just normal usage wear). All glass intact with no defects (all door regulators work). Side-view mirrors are clean and functional. Glove-box user manuals are present along with "RPO" (Regular Production Option) list/explanation. All exterior light assemblies are intact (no cracks) and work. No exterior body rust. No "DINGS" in the body sides (check-out the pictures to see how clean the sides are). Hood, oof and trunk lid are clean. High quality side window visors. Tires are fresh MichelinPremier A/Swith 2,674 miles on them (see picture).Car was never in a collision (except for a reported front "bumper-bump")or flood. There are no dents orlarge scratches in the body.A fewvery small nicks and rubs are present. But, hereare no"DINGS" whatsoeverin the sheet metal. HVAC system and controls are fully functional. Sound system and controls are fully functional. All driver controls are fully functional. All door controls are fully functional.All seat controls are functional.Two sets of keys and one Valet key.MPG was about 16-city and 23-highway (3/4 tank of fuel onboard).

At about 94,000 miles I done a major component replacement to the vehicle. All parts were replaced with genuine GM/ACDelco brand except as noted.

As you can see the vehicle was well serviced and maintained during it's use.I would replace the motor, ut I just have too many other projects going on at this time. The condition of this car makes an engine change worth the effort ! Or, here are a lot of excellent parts for resale.

Note: Vehicle can be started and driven onto a trailer/car carrier.
