The CLS500's 3-valve 5.0-liter V-8 is rated at 302 bhp. The factory estimates 0-62 mph acceleration takes 6.1 seconds. Power is sent to the rear wheels via Mercedes-Benz's own brilliant 7-speed automatic transmission with a fully adaptive program and pushbutton selection for normal and sport modes. Manual sequential shifting is allowed by moving the central selector transversely or using the steering-wheel-mounted toggle switches. Air suspension is standard on the CLS500. It ensures constant ride height regardless of the car's load, nd has electronically programmed and controlled spring rates and damping, arying according to car speed, oad surface, teering angle, tc. There are three settings available: Comfort, port 1 and Sport 2. While Comfort is the default position, ffering a really good ride under normal driving conditions and stiffening up as speed increases, he more extreme Sport 2 is ideal for giving the car the agility it needs on some of the winding and bumpy roads on our test route north of Rome. On top of this all this car is sporting a few aftermarket touches. It has vinyl wrapped black roof, orgeous directional niche wheels and a custom matte gray finish on the exterior. This car sure does turn heads.
