Very rare 2000 Mustang SVT Cobra R sport coupe! This represents #26 of only 300 produced in Road/Race set up, nd possesses engine & chassis characteristics that no other Mustang built before it can match! It was the fastest, ighest performing, nd best handling Mustangs ever manufactured by Ford Special Vehicle Team! This one is virtually new in the box having never dealer prepped, nd driven only 20 miles from new! It’s the only one like it anywhere in the world!
When the Ford Special Vehicle Team set out to take their Mustang to a higher performance standard for a demanding audience of driving enthusiasts, he Cobra R was original born in 1993. As the “R” designation in its name stood for “Race”, he car did not have a radio, peakers, iring and antenna, ir conditioner, og lights, ound deadener, ear seat, ear safety belts, ear carpeting, mong other items to shave the car of as much weight as possible. Only 107 1993 Cobra R’s were built and shared great success by racers on short, ight tracks throughout the country. Revisions from that platform allowed the next generation Cobra R in 1995 with a larger 5.8L OHV V8 providing 300 horsepower, n increase of 65hp, nd larger fuel cell for extended duration on the longer tracks. Only 250 1995 Cobra R’s would be sold to maintain exclusivity once again. Stronger track success in the IMSA and SCCA divisions followed. As with all great race teams, nhancements and design changes come about to remain competitive. With the introduction of the new independent rear suspension in the 1994 Cobra, ew sights were set forth to bring the next Cobra R to consumers.
Ford only made this decision when SVT Manager, ohn Coletti, ould fulfill a need to build a new one, nd if so, nly do so if it would far outshine the previous one. This important development task was not only met with some sincere enthusiasm, he end result would be the fastest & best handling Mustang ever! And according to Coletti, t pushed the performance envelope far beyond the capabilities of any previous Mustang. Now featuring a 5.4L DOHC 32-valve V8 producing a monstrous 385 factory-rated horsepower (many experts feel 400+hp is more realistic) and matching 385 lb. ft. of torque! The cast-iron block would be fitted with high-flow aluminum heads (a version later used on the 2005-2006 Ford GT), orged aluminum pistons with Dana Perfect piston rings, arillo billet connecting rods, valves per cylinder, orged steel crankshaft, ederal Mogul engine bearings, luminum intake, lectronic SFI fuel delivery, 0mm throttle body, &N air filter, anton high volume oil pan & windage tray, 1” McLeod aluminum flywheel, ust to mention a few. Backed up by a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission with B&M Ripper shifter, ” aluminum driveshaft, nd 8.8” independent rear suspension fitted with Visteon hydro-mechanical 3.55 differential gears and induction-hardened GKN 31-tooth axles! The power is delivered to the ground with cast aluminum 18×9.5” 5-spoke wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich g-Force tires measuring 265/40ZR18. This new design put some blistering statistics on paper that include 71.3 horsepower per liter, -60 sprint in 4.4 seconds, 0-0 in 127 feet, ateral acceleration of 1g on the 100-foot skidpad, nd a top speed of 175mph!
Other features on these amazing street legal performance cars include power dome hood, luminum Brembo 4-piston front brakes with 13” rotor & carbon fiber cooling ducts, osch ABS braking system, ilstein shock absorbers, tiffer Eibach springs, arger sway bars, tiffer bushings, 0-gallon Fuel Safe gas tank, arge front spoiler & rear wing for added down force at high speed, loth Recaro racing seats, orla exhaust with Bassani x-pipe& side exit, nd Visteon power rack & pinion steering. Accessories now included power windows, ocks, irrors, nd trunk release! Additionally, hese cars remained fitted with dual front airbags, lluminated vanity mirrors, ilt steering column, nd keyless entry! All 300 cars built are exactly the same and appropriately finished in Performance Red with Dark Charcoal interiors. This particular example remains exactly as it left the factory still wrapped in plastic, nd was never dealer prepped at the behest of the original owner. It was since parked in a heated & dehumidified garage with the wheels off the ground underneath a California Car Cover, nd started only frequently to keep it exercised. You will see the factory plastic still wrapped around the seats, teering wheel, nd floor carpeting. The original front spoiler was delivered to us still in the bubble wrap along with the brake ducting tubes which remain in the shrink wrap. The SVT ownership binder is included showing the history of the team, uild process, roduction pictures, erformance specs, nd factory ID tag. The original key fobs have not been removed from the glove box, he owner’s manuals remain unopened, heel lock key, nd all ignition keys are included. We are confident you will not find another example in similar collector condition anywhere! Ours has only 20.2 delivery miles on the odometer.
