You are bidding a on 1954 Studebaker Commander Conestoga Deluxe Station Wagon. It is equipped with Studebaker's 232 cubic inch V8 engine and overdrive transmission. The car shows 77,261 miles and is believed to be accurate. The car runs and is being offered with NO RESERVE.
General:The car received a cosmetic restoration in the 1970s. It sat without running for at least 20 years prior to listing.
Mechanical:The Commander runs off its own fuel supply. Fuel pump was rebuilt just prior to listing. Engine holds good oil pressure at approximately 2000 rpm (see photos). Radiator leaks from core. Brakes are inoperable. Transmission operates in 1st and reverse, perational status of overdrive is unknown. Clutch engages very near limits of travel. Exhaust system is poor. Is equipped with exhaust cutout operated from firewall. Air cleaner is included, as removed for photography. Have keys for ignition and doors only, ot tailgate.
Interior: Seats are in fair to good condition, ut foam is crumbling (see photos). Headliner is in very good condition.
Exterior/Structural: Frame appears solid (see pictures). There is evidence of bondo in fenders and other lower extremities of the car. Paint is good in some areas and only fair in others. Hood shows many visible grinding marks. Chrome is fair to good shape (see pictures). Tires hold air, ut need replacement. There are dents in the cowl and roof, nd many other areas of minor trauma. Rust is visibly poking through on fenders. One hubcap is mismatched.
Other:Sale includes two NOS front fenders. Both fenders have some minor dings and dents, ut have never been installed. Proceeds from sale benefit the Studebaker National Museum Collections fund.
