When it comes to current automotive trends, othing's hotter than the pro-touring movement. Pro-touring's unique blend of vintage style and modern performance creates undeniable appeal that continues to change the face of the classic car marketplace. In fact, emand for pro-touring C2s is so strong that some builds have started pushing prices well beyond those of OEM-restored siblings. Sporting an awesome combination of modern hardware and old school swagger, his sweet Sting Ray pretty much perfects the pro-touring formula. Benefitting from a ground-up restoration that wrapped in early 2016, t's been completely reworked to include hot aesthetics, custom Street Shop chassis, proven fourth generation Corvette suspension and a spry LS3 that spins through to a tough Tremec 5-speed. Looking for a revered collectible that employs 21st century technology to create an unforgettable driving experience? Bet this sterling roadster can hold your stare!
BODYWORK/TRIM
A well-worn survivor, his stunning Sting Ray was professionally restored by a seasoned enthusiast who wanted to capitalize on timeless beauty and decades of improved mechanicals. During its ground-up rebuild, ompleted in early 2016, he car was fully disassembled, itted with fresh Sermersheim's quarters and bolted to a new Sermersheim's front-clip. Once those components were aligned and smooth, rilliant Metallic Silver 2-stage was complemented with a glowing Metallic Red Stinger Stripe and buffed to a wet looking shine. And today, his striking Vette presents glowing road warrior aesthetics that, imply put, ossess much more presence than any traditional, andy-tinted classic.
Aggressive styling wrapped in aggressive paint is one thing. But, n order for this Chevy to be completely over-the-top, he restorers added a full roster of fresh, andpicked details. The car opens with traditional 'razor blade' bumpers, hich center a stainless-trimmed 'egg crate' grille between amber parking lamps. Above that grille, requisite cross-flag emblem leads the eye to a familiar Stinger Hood, hich founds polished wipers, inted glass and polished pillar trim beneath color-keyed Stayfast cloth. At the sides of that hood, sculpted profile hangs chrome door handles and a small bowtie mirror between modernist Fuel Injection emblems, nd polished and shielded side-pipes. And at the back of that profile, Corvette-branded decklid centers an ornate fuel filler above monochromatic taillights and two more 'razor blade' bumpers.
ENGINE
The base model Vette has always been a highly competent, eady-made package. In the mid-60s, he car's go-to mill was GM's 327 cubic inch L30 small block. In the late-2000s, he car's go-to mill was GM's 6.2 liter Generation IV V8. That said; it doesn't seem unnatural that this roadster's classic hood veils a lightweight LS3. Widely considered one of the world's greatest powerplants, M's Generation IV LS3 utilizes aluminum construction, igh-flow heads, high-flow intake, n aggressive cam and an upgraded injection system to mix hours of thrills with years of impressive reliability. At 430 horsepower, he smooth revving engine is certainly no slouch in the performance department. And, s with the exterior of this Chevy, here are many well-planned upgrades that impress show goers and speed freaks alike. GM's familiar fuel rail covers sport modern Corvette graphics. The engine's factory serpentine system is fronted with a flash of billet aluminum. A short, olished air tube terminates with a Spectre reusable filter element. There's a beefy DeWitts radiator that's equipped with efficient SPAL puller fans. And modern power steering combines with GM manifolds, C Delco plug wires and a familiar Wilwood master cylinder to detail an otherwise purpose-built performer. As you'd expect, he fresh motor fires instantly and runs perfectly. And the glorious sound of its rowdy 378 cubic inches growling through chambered side pipes is enough to send chills right down your spine!
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Park this roadster on a lift and you'll find a custom Street Shop chassis that's been dipped in red pigment and bolted to clean, atin Black floor tubs. Behind the stout small block, reliable Tremec 5-speed, ourced directly from American Powertrain, wists torque to a rugged Dana 44 differential. That first-class drivetrain rides a fourth generation Corvette independent suspension that, hanks to the pros at Street Shop Inc., acks fresh aluminum componentry with adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. Turns come courtesy of modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Smooth and solid stops are provided by color-keyed GM calipers, hich clamp four vented rotors. Exhaust rolls from the previously mentioned manifolds to the aforementioned side pipes. And power meets the pavement through chrome C7 Stingray-style wheels, hich spin 245/45R18 Ohtsu FP7000s in front of 255/45R18 Ohtsu FP7000s.
INTERIOR
Inside this Chevy you'll find a nostalgic red interior that puts the high class in high style. Deluxe leather seats prop small headrests behind standard lap belts. In front of those mitts, 2-tone dash seats a direct-fit radio, odern climate control and an analog clock between a locking glovebox and fully rebuilt telemetry. Under that dash, small console centers a booted shifter between color-keyed floor mats. Opposite that island, ood-looking door panels trace pliable armrests with clean chrome handles and bright stainless trim. And in front of the driver, n attractive steering wheel spins satin spokes around a traditional cross-flag horn button.
