Outstanding Preserved Original Low Mileage Barn Find 220S Ponton

Here is an incredible opportunity to purchase what may be the best, ost original Mercedes Ponton sedan in existence. This 1959 Mercedes has been stored in a garage for many years and to my knowledge (and from the looks of the car) was always garage kept. The body and interior are in extraordinary condition, ncluding the original high quality leather upholstery and original paint. The car was laststarted and drivenabout 12 years ago, t which time it was in excellent driving order; it does crank, ut would need to be checked and have fluids changed before starting and driving the car. This beautiful original car is in exactly the condition as it was pulled out of the garage.

The interior of this Mercedes is in museum quality condition. The leather seats are soft and in excellent condition, howing only minor wear primarily on the drivers seat. All door panels are in excellent condition, ven the drivers door panel has only very minor scuffing, nd both front door storage pockets still stay closed. The headliner has some staining primarily near the top of the windshield and doors. The front floor mat is in excellent condition, s is the low pile carpet in the rear compartment. The wood appears to also be all original, nd in the best condition of any that I have seen. The full wood dash and window moldings have crazing on the top horizontal surfaces, ut they are beautifully finished and look so much better than over-polished refinished panels that I have seen in most other Pontons. All gauges and lights were in operating order when the car was last driven. The steering wheel is also in excellent condition. A period after market radio was installed probably when the car was new or close to new, nd its operating condition is unknown. Overall, he interior is in even better condition than would be expected of the low miles on the car, r than would be expected of a car that was only a few years old... and it is a preserved original, f original high quality materials that can not be duplicated!

The body is also in near museum quality condition. I can not see any evidence of any paint work to the original stone grey paint. There is no rot anywhere, nd the only surface rust that I can see on the body is a very little bit on the underside of the drivers door... but it is very minor. The car appears to have been undercoated (perhaps at the factory?). There are only veryminor imperfections, ncluding the largest ofwhich are a small dent below the gas filler door, ne in the front bumper, nd one in the passenger rear bumper guard. The chrome has speckling from the years, t is not bad and should polish out. These imperfections are so very minor that I think by far the best thing to do is topolish the car and keep it totally original... like the interior, t is in far better condition than most cars that are only a year or two old! And the interior of the trunk looks as new as it left the Mercedes factory in 1959!

The car was in good running order when it was last driven about 12 years ago. The engine turns over with the starter (with ajump from a battery outside the car; the car needs a new battery)but I have not tried to start the car due to the amount of time sitting. When last driven,the engine, emi-automatic transmission, rakes, ights, nd gauges were all in good operating order. Obviously, fter this amount of time in storage, t should be checked thoroughly and have all fluids changed before starting and drivingthe car.

Overall, his is the best, ost original condition Mercedes Ponton sedan that I have seen; I have described it to the best of my ability and knowledge. The Mercedes is sold as is, here is; transport is the responsibility of the buyer, hough I can continue to store the Mercedes in the garage for a reasonable period of up to two or three weeks.
