A beautiful 1964 Pontiac Catalina with ultra low miles: 41,534. This is shown by the seats, hich are original: the fabric has no tears even at the driver's position. The carpet also shows no wear. The steering wheel has no cracks or gaps. The dash has a hairline crack and small piece has come out, s shown. The seam in the vinyl below the fabric seat cushion at the corner on the left side (driver's side) has separated, s shown at the bottom of the 16th photo. The provenance for this car is remarkable. It comes with the original window sticker, uild sheet, wner's manual and owner protection plan booklet. I purchased the car in October 2013 from a dealer in Bowling Green, Y who had bought it from an old man from Georgia. When I bought it it had 41,066 miles. In other words, have driven it 468 miles in 2 1/2 years. It has never been driven in snow. Since I've had it, t has been garaged or covered most of the time. The story of it being a Georgia car until 2013 checks out in that it has no rust through. There are a couple spots of superficial rust on the back rear of the passenger side doors, s shown. There is also surface rust behind some trim, s shown. However, here is no rust through anywhere on the vehicle, ncluding the usual places such as behind the front and back wheels and trunk. It was built at GM's Atlanta plant for Connally Pontiac of Douglasville, A on July 1, 964. Options included tinted glass all around, ront seat belts, ushion foam seats in front, indshield washer, ual speed wiper, ower brakes, eavy duty air cleaner, oto hydramatic transmission, eluxe steering wheel, ower steering, eluxe wheel discs, ack up lamps, arking brake signal lamp and radio, ecor moldings, nstrument panel insulation pad, nsulation for shelf, s/wdw rv mld" and "dead fl pan."
The car starts up immediately and runs smooth. The engine has code 11H, eaning it is a V8 389 (6.4L), 67 hp 2 barrel with compression ratio of 10.5:1.2. The specified compression is 155-165 psi. When tested dry, ngine cold on November 28, 015, he readings were: 1:165, :171, :153, :151, :162, :155, :165 and 8:167 confirming the low mileage and lack of engine wear/ usage. The tires show no wear (again confirming the low miles), ut due to their age should probably be replaced. I installed a NOS clock which runs great. Quite a few parts, specially those with rubber components, ave been replaced including: motor mounts, orn relay, CV valve, park plugs and wires, oil, lternator, attery, oor and trunk seals, ody to frame mounts, ore support mounts, adiator and heater hoses, all joints, hocks, prings, ontrol arm bushings, rake lines (metal and flexible), eater core, hange oil, oolant and transmission oil, ront and rear transmission seals, ransmission pump and bell housing gaskets, ransmission case cover to case gasket, ransmission pan gasket, ransmission cross member to frame mounts, ear motor mount to cross member, eplace headlight bezel, emanufactured power steering gear box, ower steering coupling, uffler, indow glass channels, ent window seals. The exterior paint is a repaint job. It is reasonably decent, owever the car would be really amazing with a quality paint job. There are places where overspray is visible, ut not many. Most overspray was removed when the door and window seals were replaced. If the car is not repainted there are minor chips in the paint that could just be touched up. This work of installing the parts listed above is believed to have been done correctly, owever no warranty or guaranty is made. It may be advisable to have it checked by a mechanic. The parking brake should be adjusted. There are places where adhesive used for the door seals got on upper interior painted areas of the rear doors. Adhesive remover took interior paint off the inside top of the passenger side doors in small areas and touch up would take care of it. In addition to the above, n October 2013 a Chevrolet dealer here installed new wheel cylinders and performed an alignment. This is a really great car and a great opportunity for someone who wants a 50 year old car in practically new condition. The power, oft ride, oominess and comfort are so much better than today's vehicles. I am only selling it because I have 2 other 1964 Catalinas and along with my daily driver I just don't have room for all of them. I'm happy to answer any questions. Thanks for looking!
