A doctor here in Denver fell in love with the new Camaro from moment Chevy announced the new model. He went into Reddy Chevrolet and ordered his Camaro loaded with options. Not long after taking delivery, he timing chain broke and the engine had to be replaced under warranty. The block in the car is still the "Counter Exchange" engine that was the replacement and bears the "CE" stamping. In the mid '70s, he Camaro along with all American muscle cars were just old used gas guzzlers and the doctor handed down the Camaro to his son for his daily driver. I met the son in 1976 when we were both in high school and we became great friends and roomed together in college and remain friends to this day. In about 1998, y friend got tired of maintaining the Camaro and asked if I would like to buy it and I jumped at the chance. The good thing about this Camaro was the first family had not done anything to it and so all the original parts and pieces were there. The bad things was, he first family had not done anything to the Camaro and so it received a complete top-to-tires restoration. The work was completed around 2003 and we have enjoyed it since then.
Body and Paint - the body is very solid and I do not see any signs of rust anywhere. The quarters were replaced during the restoration along with the trunk floor pan. This was due to water getting into the trunk when the fiberglass trough below the convertible top broke and water drained into the trunk. The paint is the original color of Bolero Red with Black Stripes and looks excellent.
Floors - the floors were not touched during the restoration so what you see in the pictures are the finishes applied by the factory. The floors may be the best part of this Camaro along with the documentation.
Interior - the interior code for the car shows it was originally a deluxe Black interior with white accents. I chose to go with Red deluxe interior with black accents. The console and gauge package are original to the car. If you would like to buy this car but prefer to have it delivered with the black upholstery, et's talk.
Top - A new Robbins convertible top was installed last fall and has only been lowered once. A new glass window was installed also.
Engine - The original block was replaced under warranty. Original exhaust manifolds, ntake, istributor etc were moved to the CE block and are still on the car. The engine was rebuilt during restoration. It starts very easily, arms up quickly and runs excellent. I have the Quadrajet Carb but neither the original owner or I could get it to work well so a Holley spreadbore feeds the engine now. The original carb will go with the car.
