Description

This is a 1947 KB-2 panel truck that has about 2000 miles on a frame off overhaul. I built it for mild off road camping trips.
The body and frame are original and mostly unmodified, xcept: it has 4 threaded holes on the roof to attach the roof racks; a trailer hitch and trailer lite socket in the rear valance panel; gussets in the corners of the rear doors put in to stop metal fatigue; the original instrument panel frame, eld into the dash with several spot welds, as removed to make room for the new instruments; a body crossmember to hold up the floorboards was removed; one of the inner fender well panels was notched for the power steering setup. The original steering shaft was cut and a new fitting was welded on to connect the power steering gearbox. Rusted out areas at the bottom of the side and quarter panels were repaired with steel panels. Several new holes were drilled in the original frame to attach new crossmembers, otor mounts, rackets, tc. It still uses the original springs.
The front axle is a Dana 44 and the rear is a Ford 9". They have 3.5 gears, imited slip differentials, ith Warn manual locking hubs up front and disc brakes andGas- adjust shocks allaround. The rear axle has a sway bar off of an F-250, he front has a shop-built sway bar and dual steering dampeners. It has a power steering setup out of a Scout (Saginaw, think). The motor is a Ford 300 Cubic inch straight six mounted to a ZF 5 speed transmission and Borg Warner transfer case taken out of an F-250. The clutch, ressure plate and clutch hydraulics were replaced during the overhaul, nbsp;as were the u joints and the entire brake system, he engine, ransmission, ransfer case, nd axles were scavenged from junkyards and CL listings and were not overhauled. Two new 16 gallon gas tanks are suspended between the frame rails.
The wiring was all replaced during the overhaul. It is now 12 volt. I added turn signals, wo extra brake lights, nd two new LED dome lights.
The interior has new plywood floorboards (epoxy coated to resist water damage), nd insulation in the sides and roof, hich is covered with a plywood liner. Aftermarket seats and seatbelts are in place. The original gauges were replaced with new VDO gauges including a programmable speedo, oltage meter, il pressure, emperature and dual fuel gauges. The steering wheel is original and has some cracks. The glass is all new. The window and door seals are new. Custom lockable door handles attach using the original holes.
The rear passenger side fender is dented, ue to a collision with a Honda (you should see the Honda). There are several scratches and small dings on the paint and body. The paint is not a showcar type finish. It has many runs and blemishes and looks like a farmer put it on in a barnyard.
It has BFG all terrain TAs with about 2000 miles, lus two matching spares with zero miles.
I started this vehicle yesterday after it sat for more than a year. It fired right up. I drove it about 30 miles into town on the interstate at 70 mph plus. The actual mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
