1960 ELVA COURIER MK2 Rare Early Tube Frame for Restoration (Engine/gearbox not included) Elva Couriers are known for their super light weight and excellent road manners which has made them a formidable sports car on the race track. Originally fitted from the factory with an MGA 1600 engine/gearbox. the MK2 Courier benefitted from several updates including a one piece windshield and more power from the larger powerplant-the MK1 having used the 1500 MGA engine. This particular car is late in the build sequence of approximately 400 total MK1 and MK2 Couriers. The original engine was removed long ago and it comes with no engine or gearbox. It is ready for almost any small displacement (Alfa. Lotus. MG. Climax. etc. ) engine transmission combo. The engine compartment has good access and is very roomy. making fitment a breeze. The original tube chassis. rear end and suspension is all in unmolested condition. The history of this car prior to the early 1990s is unknown. It has spent the last 20-25 years in a barn in San Bernardino. CA (See photo of removal). It shows some signs of having been raced in that it has a roll bar and Brooklands racing windscreen fitted. There are added fender flairs although the wheels appear to be stock width. The wheels are fitted with period Goodyear Blue Streak racing tires. Nothing else appears to have been modified and the car has never been in a collision. The original gas tank and ULTRA RARE radiator are present and in nice shape. It also has three original Elva hubcaps (!). all of which need re chroming. The original bumpers. SUPER cool racing seats. dash cluster. hood/trunk hinges. lights (*) and glovebox are all present. It also comes with an original windshield glass which is a compound curve. Steering is all functional. pedal box is intact. as well as the brake and clutch hydraulics. Original cardboard and fiberglass door pockets are also present. but the cardboard is in poor shape. Original gauges are standard period MG. The tach and speedo appear nice. the other three are questionable however these are very common and inexpensively replaced. Virtually all of the very necessary and most difficult-to-find-made-of-unobtanium parts are present. It appears that this car was originally white with a black interior. Following are the missing items: Windshield metal frame. convertible top frame. side curtains. one hubcap. long dash piece-wood?. engine. transmission. *small front running lights next to signals. The wiring harness is pictured as well as some misc other pieces. The original two piece driveshaft is included. however it appears to have been left outside and is very rusty. The plywood floors have been removed and will need to be replaced. All of the original mounting point for the floors are intact. The car rolls easily and the tires hold air for a day or two except the left rear which goes flat in about two hours. A clear California title is in process and will likely be in hand by the end of the auction or shortly thereafter. This is a super rare opportunity to purchase one of the coolest platforms for any small displacement engine-go racing or restore it correctly and have a super fast street machine that you will NEVER see coming at you the other way. The hard to find stuff is already here. the rest is easy. There is a reasonable reserve and this auction is the exclusive venue to buy this vehicle-IT IS NOT ADVERTISED OR AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE. The auction will run for seven days until it's conclusion on Sunday. March 8th at 5pm. Please read the payment/deposit requirements (overseas buyers can contact me regarding payment time frame). BID HARD AND FAST-GOOD LUCK!
