Description

I am selling a very sentimental part of my life. This car was my father's car up until he passed away from cancer in 1999. It has belonged to our family for about 30 years and it has always been garage kept. It was purchased from a pilot who had it shipped over from England. My father drove it year round. My younger brother and I remember cramming into it on cold winter mornings to get dropped off at our school before our father went to work as an art teacher at our local high school. Back then I was so small I fit under the roll bar so my dad was able to add in an additional lap seat belt to make a third seat complete with a lap belt. I recall being able to fit back there until I graduated from middle school and still remember waiting to take those warm fall evening rides home in it following my father's second job as a high school football coach. Later this car was to be the first car I ever drove as my father felt it important for me to learn how to drive a manual car even though most cars were being built with automatic transmissions. This is a huge piece of my childhood and one of the few heirlooms I have passed down to me by my father. My father did most of the regular maintenance like oil changes and brake work on the car but occasionally had a local shop. Gibson Auto Services that used to be in business in Carlisle. PA. 17013. perform some more difficult maintenanceThe original color was Magenta. My father and his best friend (European car restorer - Terry Keiser Carlisle. PA) painted it Laser Red one summer. It was repainted Metallic Cerulean Blue during its restoration following a house fire. The dual exhaust is also an addition my father and his friend added on. It has never been in a car accident though it went through a house fire in 2003 and was completely restored by a great guy name Tom from a shop called European Imports located at 165 East High Street. Maytown. PA 17550. The car had a salvaged title but following the restoration the car was appraised for $18. 00 and now has a reconstructed title. My husband and I have officially owned the car since April of 2008 following the title transfer from my mother as an early wedding gift. We loved that we drove it home following our wedding on May 24. 2008 again being an important part of my memories. We also have kept it out of the elements in our garage as well as under a dust proof cover when not in use. It has always been insured through State Farm insurance. It was registered 3 years ago as an antique vehicle and limited on number of miles driven. All current work including oil changes are done by Kevin Fernsler in Wilmington. DE who knows these British cars in and out. We don't get near the opportunities we would like to take it out and now with 2 kids under 6 years old it is almost impossible for us to give it the regular attention it should have. This car is meant to be driven and not preserved like an artifact. Please only serious buyers. This car means a lot to me and I want to see it go to someone who will love it and take care of it as my father once did. The car runs excellent and is meant to be driven and not sitting in a garage. Current mileage is just over 60. 00. I also have the original manuals that came with the vehicle as well as paperwork from the restoration and a few photos to prove the timeline of ownership.
