I am going to explain everything I know about the truck, ood and bad, n this posting to save everyone some time. I have receipts and service records back to 1999 and there is a list of all of the repairs that have been made over the years along with a detailed RPO code list that has descriptions of everything it came with from the factory at the bottom of this posting.
Please message me with any questions or to arrange a phone call.
Thanks for looking.
This was my fathers truck, ho passed away a couple years ago. He bought it in 2004 and before that it had two previous owners. It was in storage from November 2014 until March of this year, o when I got it, had to fix a bunch of stuff and install a new cab corner because it sat for so long. I planned on keeping the truck, ut ran out of cash before I could finish the body work, /C and tires and now I am not able to keep it, o it is for sale. It needs very little and will be good to its next owner the same as it has been good to us over the years. It has all new fluids and every problem or maintenance item has been addressed, t is ready to drive.
Body and frame:
*It lived its life as a useful vehicle, o its not perfect, ut its pretty close. The passenger side cab corner was rusted out when I got it, o I replaced the whole panel and support, t only needs paint. There are a small spots on the very bottom of the doors and on the fender flares that need sanded, illed and painted. The rear bumper was replaced and needs painted. In 2010, he truck was in a low speed (< 25 mph) accident and rear ended a service truck that had a vise mounted on the bumper, o the core support, ront bumper and hood were replaced at that time. I have a pic of the truck after the accident. The hood needs to be painted. There is some rust on the bottom of the tailgate that can be repaired and painted. All the paint work can be done at the same time and I would even be willing to finish the prep work, f desired.
*The frame where the hitch was mounted was rusted when I got it, o I decided to take the bed off to clean and undercoat the frame and bed mounting rails. Everything from the cab back was scaled, anded, rimed and undercoated. Anything that might need to be taken off in the future was masked off and painted with enamel, o undercoat on bolts, uts, tc. The frame is solid except some thinning where the hitch was mounted on the passenger side, o I bolted a reinforcement plate where the hitch bolts up to connect the bumper mount to the crossmember, hen another hitch is installed, ts mount will take the place of the plate I installed. Only the bottom flange of the frame on the passenger side is thinned, he vertical web and top flange are still solid and with the installed reinforcement plate or another hitch, t is structurally sound.
Interior:
*Everything is clean and complete. Radio is am/fm/cd/cassette, orks as it should. Has air bags up front with key switch to disable the passenger side. Comes with original floor mats in good shape and a set of deep well mats for the front. Power windows, oor locks and mirrors work good. Rear windows are tinted, ear side windows vent open.
Engine and Transmission:
*Everything has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected, nything that was questionable has been replaced, o check engine light or stored trouble codes.
*I took the top end down to the heads apart, ompression tested good (150-190) on all cylinders and there is no evidence of a coolant leak anywhere, o I did not take the heads off. I rebuilt the valvetrain, eplaced one lifter, leaned and rebuilt the rest, eplaced three rocker studs that had grooves worn into the sides, leaned and inspected everything else. Intake, hrottle body and fuel injector spider were thoroughly cleaned and reinstalled with new Fel-pro gaskets and seals, he intake gasket is steel/rubber. New Delco platinum plugs, elden wires, ap, nd rotor were installed.
*I removed the oil pan to clean and inspect the bottom end, verything looks great and clearances checked out within spec. Front and rear seals are not leaking, o I didn't change them. I installed a new oil pump and Fel-pro oil pan gasket.
*I damaged the flex plate, o I slid the trans back to replace it and cleaned everything while I was in there. I installed a new filter in the trans and changed all 12 quarts of fluid through the cooler line. Drives and shifts smooth.
*Accessories were squeaky and the alternator failed shortly after I got the truck, o I replaced it, ater pump, dler pulley, ensioner and its pulley, /c clutch and belt. I polished and painted the power steering pump and crankshaft pulleys, nd purged the grease in the fan clutch bearing, verything is smooth and quiet now.
*Exhaust is quiet also, o leaks and tubing looks great.
*Cooling system was flushed, illed with new coolant and pressure tested.
Drivetrain:
*I cleaned and rebuilt the driveshaft with new grease-able u-joints and a new carrier bearing. I changed the oil in the rear end and installed a plug in the cover, ulled the axles to inspect bearings and seals, verything is good. I pulled the caps on the front spindles, oth sides are perfect and packed with fresh grease.
Brakes:
*I rebuilt the rear brakes with new springs, djusters and wheel cylinders and replaced one e-brake cable that was rusted out. Shoes, rums, ads and rotors were replaced and the lines were all replaced with nickel-copper lines shortly before the truck went into storage, only changed the hardware in the rear because the truck sat for so long. Front brakes were cleaned and inspected. I flushed and bled all four corners, verything is adjusted correctly and works great.
Suspension and steering:
*All necessary work was done before the truck went into storage, ee below. I cleaned, nspected and purged the grease in everything, ll is tight, ittings all take grease and boots all hold grease. Truck drives straight and rides solid, o slop anywhere.
Tires:
*Rear tires are almost new, ront tires are about 50% and should probably be replaced before winter.
Heat and Air conditioning:
*Heat works great. The original A/C condenser was damaged in the accident mentioned above so it was replaced with the one from the donor truck, ut I never hooked it up. I crimped the lines shut to keep the system sealed, ut the condenser may need replaced and the system will need to be recharged. A/C worked great before the accident and the system has been sealed ever since, o I am confident the rest of the system will work great once again after it is reassembled.
